If Rose does not return, it has to be a possibly, right?

No, the eight East teams are set. Toronto's not making up that much ground, and the Bulls aren't ceding it.

They'll probably be a bottom seed, though. I felt like they were playing over their heads in the first half of the season.

I don't think they'll tank the season but they sure look mentally spent. They need D Rose back to give them some hope.

The devil is telling you lies again Mini Ditka. The Bulls will make the playoffs.

His thread title wording isn't specific enough. I mean, yeah, they could miss the playoffs. Will it likely happen though? I don't think so. Either way, they're a first round exit and likely a sweep if they drop down to 7th or 8th and have to play Miami or New York. Honestly, I can't even see them winning a playoff game against the Pacers at this point.

I wish I hadn't been so quickly dismissed (FavreFan) back in December and January when I said that this team was awful.

You're the reason they've been so bad.

They need you to believe in them Sol.

Believe.

I don't think the team is awful, I think they were just playing at a very high level and waiting for their leader to get back. Ever since the Boston game a couple weeks back, that fire has just disappeared after Rose said he might not come back. I think most of the guys just lost the will to play hard and realized they are 100% fucked this season.

Well at one point in January the Bulls were 2.5 games back of Miami for the 1 seed, so of course I would be dismissive of somebody saying they were awful.

And DB is right, they still arent an awful team. Charlotte is. Phoenix is. The Bulls probably aren't as good as they were playing the first half of the season, and they arent as bad as they have been playing lately. I dont think there's a chance in hell NY or Indiana would sweep them though, even without Rose.

The Bulls aren't bad enough to miss the NBA Playoffs, even though the Eastern Conference is an absolute crapshoot other than the Heat. Right now, the Bulls would draw the Knicks in a #3 vs. #6 matchup if the NBA Playoffs started today, and quite frankly, I'm still not sold on HC Mike Woodson, Carmelo Anthony & that team in Gotham.

Truth be told, I think the bigger issues involve this roster. I can easily see the Bulls parting company with either Luol Deng or Joakim Noah in the offseason to get under the luxury tax that the team is paying for the first time in franchise history. I can also see the Bulls cutting their losses with Carlos Boozer as soon as this summer, too.

What aren't you sold on? The Knicks are clearly better than the Bulls right now and would easily win that series.. It's not up for debate. There's nothing to sell you on in this situation.

Maybe he's saying the Bulls have matched up well against them this season.

The Knicks aren't much better than the Bulls, OKC. They are beatable. Other than the NBA Champs from Miami, I don't see any team beating them come playoff time.

Is it possible that all the hard minutes Thibodeau put on his starters early on are coming back to bite the Bulls? just out of gas?

That's just simply untrue.

And yes, I know the Knicks are beatable (most teams are), but the Bulls are not the team to do it.

I think any team 2-8 can beat one another. It's all just a contest to see who will be slaughtered by the Heat in the conference finals.

CH, it's very possible the hard minutes have taken their toll, as well as the constant travel & the injuries. ESPNChicago.com's Nick Friedell suggested those on Twitter last night, as well as this morning on ESPN Radio's "Waddle & Silvy Show". Bernsy wrote something along those lines about 2 weeks ago on 670thescore.com.

Then again, this wasn't a back-to-back set. The Bulls don't have a back-to-back until this weekend when they rematch the Nets Saturday in a "2 WGN game" at United Center & the Pacers in an NBA/ESPN game Sunday night in Indianapolis.

It's hard to believe that this team still has the 2nd best road record in the league. Those numerous bad losses at home have just killed them though.

That Cavs team without Irving is just hot garbage. No way they should have lost that game.

That's not even the worst home loss of the season.

The NYE loss to Charlotte is definitely number one.
The 2 home losses to Milwaukee are proabably worse too since they blew huge leads in both games.
They also lost to New Orleans without Anthony Davis
They were also blown out by Phoenix.
The Cavs game was close, so I don't know if I would rate that as bad as the others.

I think it just stung more because I just happened to be at that Cavs loss and it was terrible. The crowd was dead the whole game and just lifeless. Still not as an embarrasing a defeat as the CSFMB gathering for the NJ game. And I agree that anytime a team loses to Milwaukee that is truly the most embarrasing loss of the year.

The most embarrassing of all the Bulls' home losses had to be that 10 point loss to the bottom-feeding Bobcats on New Year's Eve afternoon with 2 home losses to the Bucks very close behind.
