Not Indie by any definition, but a damn good warm weather band and with the turning of the calendar and spring coming hope springs eternal for everyone except these Blue Jackets.

Another year, another truly horrendous team.

This is the 5th time in the past 7 years that Columbus only has 5 wins after playing 20 games. The bright side to this? Their website is encouraging all Columbians? Columbtoans? Columbans? to "join the battle!!" where for $25 a person you can get a Ticket, Hot Dog, Pepsi, Popcorn, Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream Voucher and a Ohio Health Ice Haus Skating Pass. That's a great deal to watch one of my favorite NHL players, Jack Johnson, half ass it on the blue line lamenting the trade that cost him his name on the Cup last year.

Like the game earlier this week, there are zero hockey skill related reasons why Columbus should win this game so I won't even pretend to analyze this. Losers of 3 in a row and 2-6 in their last 10. They've scored 20 goals less than the Hawks and have allowed 24 more to go in. Not sure who is starting in net between Mason and Bobrovsky. Mason is actually having the slightly better year, but really hard to gauge with the garbage in front of them.

Dickbag James Wisniewski is out with a broken foot.

Crawford is likely out after leaving the game last night. Hawks are not skating this morning to so real updates until much later in the day. I wouldn't be shocked to see Henrik Karlsoon get a call to start tonight. With 4 games in 6 days coming up and might want to give Emery a day off to avoid a back to back.

Bolland out tonight to which shouldn't matter.

If Montador is ready to go, might not be a bad game to ease him back into the lineup.

60 minutes of decent enough yields two points. Let's go Hawks.

Good job, Dan.

I don't know why we can't beat these guys by more than 1 goal.

Nice, Dan :thumright:

Despite me being completely wrong about the predicted outcome last night, and everything mentioned in the OP
pointing a Hawks landslide...not to get all CH/devil's advocate, but the BJs gave the Hawks a smack-in-the-face effort less than a week ago, and after a hard-hitting game on the road last night, along with an untested goaltender, I haz concerns about the Hawks fortunes tonight.

I say Hawks win, though - in OT, 3-2.

Great preview. OAR, though? tsk-tsk.

The thing about Columbus is that what they lack in talent, and oh do they ever lack in talent, they make up for in sheer effort. It's a stark contrast from the "belch and scratch and pray for Nash" culture under Scott Arniel. Now that they have no preconceived notions about one of their teammates being there to carry them, they're all quite willing to gut it out, race for pucks, so on. Of course, if they're now missing Dubinsky, Anisimov, Jack Johnson, AND Wisniewski, there's really nothing there.

EDIT: I guess Anisimov is back after all. John Moore is out at defense, though.

I've got a gem for Detroit. Seemed appropriate being they are an Ohio band too.

Of course they're an Ohio band. Where else but the most whitebread state could OAR grow?

Given how "good" Columbus is, you could have gone with Randy Newman's "Burn On"

No. Olentangy (cuts through campus) and Scioto. Cuyahoga is Cleveland which is in Cuyahoga County. If you need any other Ohio facts I got ya brah.

I hope so, just feels like a trap game. I know its not necessarily a trap game, but you know what I mean, right?

Some nice puck movement on that powerplay. No one seemed to have the puck for more than 2 seconds.

I just want him and Frolick to hit the net on breakaways. That goes for Hossa as well. But that was good positioning on that play.

They should be ok in this game unless Emery spits the bit. They seemed to dominate towards the end of the period. I'll say 5 -3 final.
