I appreciate the running, timeless championship thread but this one is going to be specific to 2013.

Gillaspie is going to be my guy this year. If he ends up proving to be an adequate, starting quality MLB 3B, Hahn just solved a lot of Sox problems.

White Sox! Fuck Yeah!

Better to hope for this than Dontrelle Willis and Brett Jackson

Sox have the starting pitching. If they have health most of the year, they could be a playoff team.

Gillaspie hit a home run yesterday on his way to Spring Training MVP. His ceiling is Bryce Harper.

Took 3 posts for the Sox championship thread to mention the Cubs. Willis was a non roster invitee....is anybody really counting on him? And yea Brett Jackson blows and everybody outside of Schaumberg has realized that.

Seats are going quickly now on the Gillaspie Bandwagon.

Both teams in this city needed a low cost 3B. One team has a brilliant young GM who found his player of the future. The other resigned Ian Stewart.

Was this guy considered any kind of significant prospect with the Giants?

1st round selection, solid prospect. Roster casualty

Maybe overshadowed as a prospect by the legend of Brandon Belt and the Kung Fu panda blocking his way.

Out of options, so had to do something.

When you have nobody at a position you try stuff...see Ian Stewart, Youk, Hudson, Escobar, Valbuena, Lillibridge, Olmeda, Lopez,

Agreed. And since Stewart worked out so well last year, it made sense to resign him.

Of course, I guess him being out and/or bad allows to you lose more games and get a better draft pick.

I just read a couple reports that said he is a singles hitter who is an above average--but not great--fielder. The reports indicated his career trajectory will land him somewhere between Wade Boggs and Todd Walker, leaning heavily towards the latter. That's OK I guess. He was a supplemental pick (#37) in 2008 and was expected to be available later in the draft.

Think of him as a younger left handed hitting version of Jeff Keppinger. A solid but unspectacular player.

But if he is hurt, ES will disappointed that they can't get three blue chip prospects in return.

He will never reach the level of Keppinger.

I did as you instructed and immediately succumbed to a narcoleptic stupor.

LH bottom of the order hitter with a nice OBP who can play third base is exactly what this white sox team needed at the beginning of spring break. They have enough power throughout the lineup. They need someone to get on base in front of that power.
