Two part test to tell if you are a real Hawks fan or just a bandwagoner......

Part 1: During that Sharp breakaway, before he even made a move you said to yourself, 100% he tries the same stupid shot he tries everytime, snap shot to the right side.

Part 2: You knew there was no chance he was going to score and the only interesting part was whether or not he would hit the net.

A one goal lead is the worst lead in hockey. If the opponent scores 1 goal ...now let's use our 1st grade educations here....the game is tied. With a 3 goal lead the team would still be winning by...2 goals. And as we all saw in the Hawks game, the Wild scored 2 consecutive goals but still lost because the Hawks were winning by...oh no...what...how...3 goals. Really racking my brain here but if the Hawks had only a 1 goal lead they would've been losing.

It's just an extremely common saying in hockey. I'm sure he prefers to have a 3 goal lead than a 1 goal lead

Simple math and probability....in theory and in practice...show that having a three goal lead at any time gives you a better chance of winning than a one goal lead.

In the 2011-2012 season, NHL teams averaged 2.72 goals per game. So...if you have a 3-0 lead after the first minute of the game...you already have a distinct and agreed upon advantage.

If you'd like to prove these facts wrong...research how many teams have a 3 goal lead at any time during the first period or first intermission...and see how many of them end up losing the game.

My outrageous claim - probably not a large percentage.
