Yes it is a bit premature but this last snow storm really has me juiced to get out and start playing. Things to
discuss could be anything from this week's tournament, players on the PGA Tour, places you have played or
are going to play, suggestions for places to play, equipment questions.... you name it. With the Masters just
a month out, lets get some positive golf thoughts going.

What do you guys currently have in the bag going into 2013? Thinking of adding any new weapons to your
arsenal? My bag currently looks like this ( I think. I have 3 sets but this is the one I am using now )

Driver -- Taylor Made R9 Driver 9.5 loft ( Has a souped up shaft as I bought it from a buddy but don't remember
what kind but the flex is stiff or x-stiff )
Image

3-Wood -- Titleist 909 15 degree loft

Image

1-Iron -- Ping Zing 2 Black Dot

Image

Irons -- Taylor Made R9 irons 3-PW with steel shafts

Image

Gap wedge -- 52 degree Cleveland copper CG15 wedge

Image

Sand wedge -- 56 degree Cleveland silver CG15 wedge
Image

Putter -- Titleist Scotty Cameron Coronado

T-Bone, you are scratching me right where I itch.

TaylorMade Burner Superfast 2.0 Driver 9.5 degrees (matrix ozik xcon 4.8 - stiff shaft)
Image

TaylorMade Burner Superfast 2.0 3-wood 15 degrees (matrix ozik xcon 4.8 - stiff shaft)
Image

King Cobra Baffler 3 Hybrid 20 degrees (aldila shaft nv-hl 65 stiff)
Image

Cobra Forged CB irons 3-PW, 50 degree, 55 degree (True Temper S300 shafts)
Image

An old Nike putter which is going to be replaced in a week or two. The new will not be a Nike.

Nice setup Chus. I have various other drivers and half a dozen Ping and Titleist putters. My other irons are
the Mizuno MP-33s and Ping Zing 2's. I also have a persimmon driver that I would like to get refurbished.
It is in good shape and could still be hit but I think I would like to get it refinished for display at some point.
Anyone who knows someone that does that work I would be interested. I think you can send these into
Golfsmith and have it done but I'd rather try to keep it local.

Also, picked up a set of wheels for walking this year. I am getting too old to carry for 5 hours but want
the exercise of the brisk walk. This thing is nice and folds up into a small lightweight cube. haven't tried
it yet but look forward to it.

T-Bone, that Cameron putter looks awesome.

My bag consists of an old Tour Edge driver, Giga Golf irons, tight lies woods and a Bullseye flange putter I got for my birthday in grade school.

It matches my game perfectly.

And I just checked ebay for that putter. Probably worth more than my entire set of clubs.

Tour Edge makes a good product. When I was married my wife got a custom fit set that even she could hit
pretty well. I have a few Bullseyes as well. I have a weak spot for them for some reason, always saw the
ball pretty well with them. Unfortunately one of them has a bent neck due to a violent hit to the outside of
my foot. :( Thankfully I can enjoy the game now and not get mad.

That's the good thing about being an average to below average golfer. The anger aspect concerning my golf game disappeared years ago.

Agreed on the soft spot for Bullseye. I went on ebay and bought 2 of the same putter I already had. Sold one to a buddy of mine who loves it and kept the other one for a backup. I've tried a few other putters but they just don't feel quite right. But damn, that Cameron is beautiful.

I still have older clubs, hand me down from a friend. 2 year old Tommy Armour driver, and got a new Maxfli blade putter this winter. I need to get better overall before I invest in new clubs. Maybe next year.

Personal goal for me is to break 90 more often this year (I think I did like 3 times last year), and ideally I'd like to shoot no worse than 95 but I know that won't happen. I also want to go either the entire front or back 9 shooting no worse than bogey. Twice last year I did that for 8 holes.

I did end the 2012 season on a real high note. Went out in early December on a damp but warm morning and shot 78. Now its a short course with 7 par 3's on it, but still gotta hit 'em and gotta putt 'em, so I was real pleased with the way my season ended. I think I ended up just +2 on the back 9. Really looking forward to getting out hopefully before the end of this month, and to watching the Master's on TV/online.

I hit Taylor Made woods and Calloway Irons. I like them. Have a Ping putter that is like those Odyssey ones with the balls on it for aiming. I had those Ping Zings and couldn't hit them for shit. Yeah they went straight but no distance at all like they were deadened.

Thanks. Thankfully I had some gift cards from a tournament to use on it. I wouldn't have
normally paid that much for it brand new when it first came out. I've had mixed results with
it, hence the half dozen other putters sitting in the garage.

Yes, you are right about these. I sent my set down to South Carolina with my parents for people visiting to
use instead of bringing their own with them. Absolutely little to no feel at all. I do love that in the 1-iron
though. Great for getting some distance and keeping it relatively close to the short grass.

BTW, I love to buy 2011 or 2012 clubs after all the nut jobs that bought last year change their mind.

I haven't purchased brand new irons ( other than wedges ) since 1992 I think. Definitely a good strategy for most

I picked up the new putter today. Ping Scottsdale Wolverine mallet putter (heel shafted).

I even found somebody to take my old Nike mallet off my hands for $20. He is just getting into golf, so the putter, while older and used, will be perfect for him.

Took my younger son (16) to get fitted for adult clubs last week- he FINALLY outgrew the Junior clubs. He is looking at Titleist forged irons and Adams wedges. The course he works at will give him clubs at their cost- they also carry Calloway. Any suggestions?

What kind of player is he? Rough idea what his handicap is? Titleist forged irons are nice but
depending on the style they are more unforgiving in many cases, especially with blades.

Yeah, every person giving lessons and the swing-fitter rave about his swing. He played to about a 9 last summer on some pretty challenging courses he was seeing for the first time (a cool, 10 week junior tour thing he got into).

The slo-mo video did show him pulling up his left shoulder to correct for a head move toward the target, which explains why he hits everything higher than he should. Normally, he hits very straight, with just a slight draw if any at all, and of course, is kicking his old mans ass every time out

Best part, his job at the course allows him to play all he wants for free, so about every minute he is not working he is there playing. I am confident he would work with a challenging set of clubs to figure them out

The local guy who fit him suggested we go to Dick's to hit some of the clubs. The guys there proved to be fitting of the store name- DICKs. The guy jumps us when we walk into the golf section, we explain that he is there to try a couple of the clubs, especially interested in the Calloway and the Titleist. Oh, we don't carry Titleist, you wouldn't like them anyway. The hitting area is only for fittings, and we are booked up for today (@10am). Just about then the other guy steps out of the simulator with his last fitting and announces "Anybody else want to hit anything?" You mean like us? sure, thanks DICK. So the kid goes in with a six iron off the rack, grumpy dude puts on some tape so he doesn't scuff it up and a shot keeper label (that white thing that tracks the ball strike spots). kid takes a couple practice swings, then hits 5 balls on the simulator range, the last one a throw away, but four on the line averaging 183yds that you could cover with a queen-size blanket. "I wouldn't change a thing, these clubs are perfect for you, should we write it up?" Okay, fine, he doesn't need to try anything else, he should "buy these and play with them for a month, then we can make any adjustments you want..." See ya, DICK!

Finally, a thread I can get excited about.

After 10 years of using graphite shafted irons because of my back (7 spine surgeries) I decided to make the radical switch to lightweight steel. Did a bunch of research and tried out several clubs in the bay and in the end it was no contest as the clubs I hit the best were the Mizuno JPX 800 HDs. Bought a set last week, but had to special order cause I didn't want the 4 & 5 hybrid it comes with so ordered them with 4 and 5 irons instead. They ship next week. can't wait to get them!

Played a couple rounds last month in Grand Cayman with rentals. Hit the ball surprisingly well considering it was the first time out since October. Just booked a trip to Orlando in May to visit my buddies down there and play golf. Gonna play the Ritz and Champions Gate for sure, currently deciding on a couple other places to play.

As for the rest of my bag....

Taylor Made R11 9 degree driver (friend gave it to me). Thinking of getting my swing speed tested and see if I might be better off with a different shaft on this beast.

Taylor Made 15 degree Burner Superfast 3 wood. best club in my bag, hit it 225 right down the middle everytime off the tee or fairway. Might be time to upgrade, but i hit it so well I'm hesitant to change.

Calllway 21 degree Diablo 3 hybrid. Won it at a golf outing, hit it pretty good, 200 yards, but can lose them left sometimes. Might upgrade to a different brand like Adams this year.

Titelist Vokey 56 degree 11 bounce sand wedge. Given how bad our sand conditions were last summer I still have no clue if I hit this club well or not.

Titelist Vokey 60 degree 04 bounce. I like this club, can pull off some nice flops when I have the confidence.

Odyssey White Hot #6. I putt it well with this but I think its bent so want to buy a new one soon. Maybe a Cameron?

 I have to laugh because I think we have all probably gotten the over anxious sales guy at a store that
doesn't specialize in the sport. Sounds like he will get some good direction from the place he works. Titleist
makes a good product so as long as he can hit some in advance to buying he should be just fine. The blades
would allow him to work the ball either direction more if and when he gets to that point. Nothing feels better
than puring a shot with a blade but since the sweet spot is about the size of a nickel on a lot of them, it doesn't
happen often enough.
