How do you think Dairy Queen rates in terms of other ice cream chains like Culver's, Oberweis, McDonald's, etc.?

DQ isn't even ice cream, so there is no comparison.

Of those 3, I would go Culvers, DQ, McDonalds.

DQ is OK in a pinch. Quality of the Peanut Buster Parfait has declined over the years. Blizzards are hit and miss.

I may get grilled on this, but the Shamrock Shake is a mere image of it's former shelf. It sucks. A vanilla shake with a tiny bit of mint flavoring and coloring streaked throughout.

Luckily, we have a local ice cream shop very close by that is awesome. I tell the kids if they want a shamrock shake, we can go here and get a homemade mint chocolate chip shake any day of the week.

Culver's and McDonald's are hamburger chains, first and foremost.

I think DQ's food is underrated, especially the Flamethrower burger. Their fries are good too.

Butterfinger, Heath, or Snickers Blizzards are where it's at. They're like goddamn $5.75, though!

I haven't been to a sitdown Dairy Queen in ages. I know Rockford has a bunch of DQ Grill & Chills, but when in Rockford, why go anywhere but Beef-a-Roo?

Dairy Dream is better than all of them.

There were some people that were insisting that Dairy Queen's blizzards are better than Culver's concrete mixer. Considering the simple fact that frozen custard is better than ice cream, I wondered if people understand the difference in quality and taste or if I was if I was living in a Blizzard Bizarro World. Also beyond taste, the blizzards at DQ are pretty expensive.

Frozen custard is so rich, though. I can knock off a large Blizzard, no prob, but a concrete mixer always makes me feel a little sick at the end. Too much egg or something.

There are probably 10 to 15 additional grams of fat compared to the DQ stuff.

There's a DQ downtown. I want to walk over there now, but I know that if I do I'll end up stopping somewhere much better instead...

Love DQ's food, it's really, really good.

It was a favorite "I'm stoned and hungry" food back in my days of roaming the mean streets of Charleston, IL.

-I saved La Bamba's for drunk/drugged up nights.

-I got to experience the Hardee's goodness for my first year only. 79 cent cheesburgers and some of the funniest craziness goin' on after 12am. My pals and I would go in there, order a bunch of burgers and just watch the insanity unfold.

Never really delved into the China 88 as I usually just went to QQ Buffet or Magic Wok.

Oh you missed something special. I worked there for a bit. I never had any idea what they were saying to me but they paid cash.

Are you sure they even hired you? Or did you just show up one day and start slangin' that General Tso's?

What years were you present in that esteemed university?

 You may not be far from the truth. When I worked at Stu's the "chefs" would always hook us up with food from next door (EL Krackers)....we saw what really went on and weren't all that impressed. It was free, though, so we ate our steak with a smile.

DQ is kind of like the Dominoe's of the ice cream world. Like Dominoe's, I know there is much better within an equal drive but I crave it occasionally.
