All my kids watch is Netflix. Makes me question why I have cable anymore. Then I turn on my DVR and see 50 different kinds of "Real Housewives of......" shows and I remember.

My wife and I finally realized that we were paying 90 bucks a month to basically tape shows that we never ended up watching. The kids do not miss cable 1 bit. And to see how they are mesmerized when they watch commercials at grandma's house is frightening. Mouth agape while not blinking.

That will be a primo setup until the cable companies flex the true power of their monopolies and set up data caps countrywide....or just put the money in and get rid of net neutrality.

Yea, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop regarding online viewing. I do think the numbers are growing in regards to Roku/other streaming options. I'd pay for ala carte online viewing. Too bad it will never happen.

Speeps Jr likes to watch NatGeo Wild. Seeing bears, leopards, and every other type of wild animal makes him happy.

Here's the thing. This board does give good advice. I was telling Goff long before it all blew up on him to cool it with the Danny Mac attacks. I told him it wasn't smart. Told him Mac wouldn't take it for very long. Told him he's making an ass of himself. Nobody at the Score was telling him this. B&B were encouraging him to continue. Were Larry, Herb and Drinky telling him to stop? Hell no.

So I was actually trying to help him. Did he listen? No. He went harder at Mac. Cuz nobody is gonna tell the Goff what to do even if it's sage advice. Least of all a cracker on a message board. Of course, it did blow up on him.

So this place isn't as evil as you say, Herb. We can be helpful if you boys are willing to listen.

How exactly did it "blow up" on him? Is he currently out of work, or is he hosting his own show in a major market?

When Mac fired him from his show because of "business" reasons and him getting "under his skin". That's when it blew up on him.

Yeah, he got Atlanta. That's cool. But you gotta figure he wants back at the Score if and when a talk show opens up in the next 5 to 10 years. If Mac is still around, maybe Mitch thinks twice about bringing him back. If nothing else, he ruined his chance of being Mac's partner one day.

I don't doubt he's making more money that what the Score was paying him, but I don't think he's making a killing. If he was making 45k at the SCORE it might be 60k in Atlanta. It's a start up station, he's got the night shift and he also has a partner who takes half of that show's worth.

The opportunity to have his own show is the biggest reason that he took it. Not the money. Putting that on his resume helps him make more money in the future. Goff just has to keep his true enemy from fucking things up for him. I don't think he can do that. His true enemy is himself.

Does anyone here listen to Goff's show? Does he have a solid group of listeners yet? Does anyone care about sports in Atlanta? Is Atlanta warm right now?

i lived in atlanta for 4 years. it's almost all college football. yellow jackets and bulldogs. now there's probably more falcon talk but that'll go away when they go back into the basement.

even when the hawks were good, i don't think anybody cared. and the braves...oh...the braves.

Worst traffic of any major city I've ever been in.

I'm gonna assume Dahl got a test deal to see if he could do well on his own. I'm guessing he didn't so he never reached the salary he had with his partner. But had he gotten the same ratings that he had gotten with Meier, of course he would have been paid more as a solo host.

Bernstein would be the same way. Maybe a small kick if he goes solo. If he gets the same ratings that he had with Boers after a year or so, he would double his salary. Add Terry's salary to his salary.

A radio show brings in a certain amount of money. The host or host gets a percentage of that worth with the radio station making sure they get the percentage that they want. The more money the show makes, the more money the hosts make. If you're solo with a successful show you'll make more than what you would with a partner. I don't think I'm saying anything that is too outrageous.
