And I agree, SomeGuy. DQ burgers are pretty tasty. They're no Hardees Mushroom and Swiss but they'll suffice.

When it comes to shroom & Swiss burgers Hardee's is the best hands down. My little shithole town closed the Hardee's (still plenty of heroin though!) so it's DQ when that craving hits.

There is a DQ within walking distance from my house.

Dairy Dream is the best...

DQ Heath & Butterfinger blizzards....with chocolate ice cream. mind blown...and frozen.

I've been to a Cold Stone once or twice, same with a Culver's (though I did design the Culver's on 92nd and Harlem). They're quite good, but I'm set in my white trash ways.

Based on that logic you really should be eating at White Castle.

Of course, I'm always partial to some Whitey's...Quad Cities, representin'

From what I understand White Castle was the first national burger chain. Unfortunately, it's all been downhill since then. Even Harold and Kumar couldn't save that place.

I would recommend skipping White Castle forever and going to Steak and Shake instead.

DQ is OK in a pinch. Quality of the Peanut Buster Parfait has declined over the years. Blizzards are hit and miss.

I may get grilled on this, but the Shamrock Shake is a mere image of it's former shelf. It sucks. A vanilla shake with a tiny bit of mint flavoring and coloring streaked throughout.

Luckily, we have a local ice cream shop very close by that is awesome. I tell the kids if they want a shamrock shake, we can go here and get a homemade mint chocolate chip shake any day of the week.

I've had ~8-9 Shamrock Shakes since they've returned, & only 3 of them were bad. I say they add more than enough mint flavoring. Had a couple that were perfect. But really they're hit or miss.

I think Oberweiss is the best of the local chains.

I have driven the 1 hour each way for Kopp's burgers and custard.

I can't disagree with either of your opinions. Kopp's is worth the trip to Milwaukee.

What about Kewpee in Racine? Ever been there T-Bone?

White Castle and Portillo's fries are my favorite...I think the nearest Steak and Shake is in Skokie.

White Castle's are never cooked enough. Portillo's are good.

I think there is a Steak n Shake south of us on LaGrange...

What about the fresh cut fries at Gene and Jude's?

Stopped at DQ on our way home from some shopping today- fed the family of 4 for $16 (with coupon). The girls liked the Iron Grill sammiches, and the fries were great!

Oh believe me I know. The one near me is packed 24/7. They can't wait to get a mediocre burger on fine china.

So.....Smashburger just opened up about 2 minutes away. Is it prepared the same way as Steak and Shake burgers? Menu has much more to offer the S and S. Just curious on the quality.

I don't overrate it myself. I think the shakes they have there are very good. The Happy Hour is a much better deal than Sonic because it includes shakes for under $2. They also have a lot of coupons that sweetens the deal to go there.

As far as the food goes, I think their fries are ridiculously small and the last burger I had was pretty greasy. I don't think their service is that good and I generally don't sit in their restaurant. But as far as shakes I think they're probably in the top 5 places for milk shakes. Behind Oberweis of course and maybe the Portillo's chocolate cake shake.

I swear to god the Steak and Shake people are playing some incredibly long, convoluted prank with those late term abortions they call "french fries". Fuckers are ice cold a minute after they are brought to your table.

Steak n Shake food is nothing to care about. I like their shakes, though. (I like our shakes, too.) I got a cookies and cream shake on Friday night!
