For the Firefox users, why do you use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer or one of the other browsers?

Another question he could easily answer for himself with a Google search.

I tried to search "The Original Kid Cairo Loves Firefox Because" and it referred me to a town in Egypt.

Well, there are a multitude of reasons...

1) As a Linux user, IE is not available to the OS.
2) As a general user, IE fell far behind in features quickly. Firefox introduced tabs prior to IE, for example.
3) As a software developer, I found Firefox much easier to debug JavaScript issues than IE. IE is infamous in development circles for providing no visibility into what the actual JavaScript error was. You would have to put about a hundred alerts in the page in order to discover what the actual problem is. From a cross-browser perspective, IE tends to skirt around or not follow the standards put forward by the W3C. This leads to a lot of wasted time and money by companies trying to support both browsers as something that works fine in Firefox would blow up epically in IE. There is also the perception of security with IE. ActiveX became a bit of a plague near the end of its run.

This all being said, most corporate environments are still standardized on IE. I've seen numbers anywhere from 60-80% of users coming in from IE in a corporate environment.

Now for a real fun question. Just how many web browsers are out there and can you name them all?

You hate Mini-Ditka, you hate his threads, you despise his questions and you can't stand his presence on the board...

Yet you post in all of his threads, multiple times in some. Would it kill you to answer the poor guys question? It may be a matter of life or death, Kid, and you're going to refer him to the internet? Everyone wanna hate on Mini-Ditka but no one can stop posing about Mini-Ditka.

Enough silliness. Listen, Lil' D, I use Firefox most of the time because I find it better, it's better with plug-ins, better with .gifs, better with porn and better with other stuff. It's pretty secure as well. IE 10 is solid but still has a mult-year hangover from when M.S. dominated the browser market, drove Netscape outta business and pretty much released a new I.E. that was the same as the old I.E. Now they are behind and I.E. 10 is a step in the right erection.

It's because Internet Explorer oscillates between terrible and acceptable based on the version. It's gotten a lot better with the latest version but that only lasts so long.

Until it gets dethroned, everyone should be using Chrome.

I think that covers the big ones.

Best part of Chrome (aside from the fact that it's faster/better/cooler), is the seamless syncing across devices. I can be looking at a site on my iPhone, then open it on my iPad or PC/Mac/Linux and vice a versa. No matter the device, it's like you're using the same browser.

I may consider Firefox if they had an iOS app, but even then, don't see a reason to use it over Chrome.

If you use IE, you cray.

I don't hate him, but I think oft times a smarmy comment does just the trick. WHY ARE YOU MAKING THIS SO COMPLICATED?!?!

Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Konqueror, rekonq, Epiphany, Midori, Amaya, Lynx, SeaMonkey (originally known as "Mozilla")

Web Browsers were originally written for UNIX. Linux is a UNIX variant. Ergo, many browsers work on Linux. Even IE, if you run it through the "wine" windows emulator.

It's cool, but Chrome remembers too much data for my tastes and doesn't even have options to turn some it off.

What's it keep that you can't turn off and what's the downside? Just curious. Never really looked in to it.
