end of third, nate robinson did it right. take note, you can just mark it as 2013 no need for anything more specific.

Isaiah Thomas was playing like the good Isaiah Thomas. The Sacramento guys suck, but they can score and that's why the Bulls lost. They just can't defend without Gibson and Hinrich. The Bulls were 2 for 21 from the three point line. They just got blown out of the water. Thibs problem was that he put the bench in. Earlier in the season he would not have done that.

I kind of wish that I was able to get the Sacramento telecast last night to check-in on Bill. He's great when a game turns into a blowout. I miss the 3-man booth with him and Steve Snapper Jones on NBC.

Yeah, Snapper and Walton playfully jabbing at each other the entire game while Greg Gumbel keeps the peace. Those were some fun broadcasts. I miss the NBA on NBC period.

Boy I am glad I didn't tune in last night. Woof. But I agree that the Snapper Jones/Bill Walton booth was GOLD

Yup. I think we should fire him and trade Jimmy Butler to the Clippers for Vinny Del Negro

Do you get the feeling with ESPN/ABC that the NBA is just something they happen to have, while NBC took much more pride in it?

Obviously bringing in John Tesh to pen your theme song shows a large amount of pride in product that ABC does not have, but I believe I am suffering from Tirico fatigue on all things ESPN. Boring broadcaster. And Jeff Van Gundy angers up my blood. The TNT broadcasts are so much better its ridiculous.

I do miss the "NBA on NBC", guys. I think TNT does a superior job on the NBA than ESPN/ABC. Thanks to the NCAA Tournament next week, this eve's NBA/TNT twinbill of Mavericks/Spurs & Knicks/Blazers are it for the next 3 weeks.

i dont think he was on last night. but the other two guys were still great. probably the best brodcasters ive heard in the entire league. theyre better then ours, and i think ours are really good. well, ours are probably more entertaining, king is, but those two guys really told things how they were and they didnt fluff anything. it was a very reshreshing step away from homer stacey.

Really though we should all just be thankful that the NBA contract isn't with Fox. They can't ruin my basketball enjoyment like they did with baseball. Although watching Joe Buck have a complete meltdown while watching Michael Beasley would be mildly entertaining.

Yeah, NBC was great back in the day with the John Tesh song and all the triple headers. I never had cable in those years, but they always put a lot of games on during the weekends and they even had Saturday doubleheader games. The announcers were a lot better than ESPN too.

It's really a shame when they get to the NBA Finals and you have to listen to Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy call the game. They are a lot of better than Buck and McCarver, but that's not saying much. The TNT guys are much better, but they don't call the Finals.

I know Boers and Bernstein think that LeBron and the Heat are better than the NBA on NBC era, but I found the games to be more enjoyable. Now a lot of these TV matchups are terrible.

Joe Buck called part of a Blues game a few weeks ago and didn't entirely suck.

I don't think Fox would fuck up the NBA that much, actually. There's not enough there to fuck up. The game is right there in front of you, you shoot players' faces tight, it's all pretty basic. Fox's undoing is making everything hyper-graphic and overly technical, and while that annoys the shit out of us as pretty serious sports fans, I can step back and see the merit of glowing hockey pucks and fastballs so fast they're on fire and the whole litany of football gimmicks and whatever the hell else they did. You can't even find things to blow up (as in make bigger, not combust) and overteach in basketball.

Disagree strongly. Fox's biggest problem is trying to force extreme closeups and drama into their baseball telecasts. The postseason is just excruciating. From the pitchers face to the batters face to Terry Francoa in the dugout to some hilljack fan with their hands over their mouth back to the pitcher. Baseball is a sport that needs to breathe a bit while it is being telecast and Fox tramples all over it with contrived drama instead of letting it happen naturally. At least in football they have to break away to show the wide angle of the play every 40 seconds. I have no doubt that if Fox took over the NBA my enjoyment of watching the leagues games would go down.

Phil, don't be so sure. FOX Sports already has quite a few regional deals with NBA teams. Whether the new FOX Sports 1 gets part of the NBA package come 2015 remains to be seen.

Right, I know they do that in baseball, and it's annoying as hell, but show me these basketball telecasts today that don't have extreme closeups of players and spectators and coaches and players again. That's what people praise about basketball: that you can see the faces. It's why it's commonplace to refer to players by their first names. They're right there, you see their facial expressions, they're not just little brightly-colored army men that run around when you say "go." Fox would do that, but I don't think they would make the ball have a trail of fire like NBA Jam when someone dunks. You can't see the spin on a baseball or always know for sure if it was a ball or a strike, hence the super-slow-mo-close-up and the PitchTrax and stuff. Basketball is pretty cut and dried, as far as a telecast goes. Do you see what I'm saying here?
