Eh. Good riddance to old rubbish. Though I assume he just ends up seeing no one is going to pay him and ends up back with the Bears.

Hear hear.
We got the best of his years. By far. Go on, go be not as good somewhere else.
Go be Cubs Fred McGriff in some other city.

Didn't Fred hit 31 HR's one season with the Cubs?

I think Urlacher comes back for 1 mil plus a lot of incentives.

Its time. 54 is finished. He was horrendous last year. The new Bears regime isn't happy about the way he trashed the fans either. He did after all learn his media skills from Lovie.
Go play for the Vikings you washed up jagoff.

I want this has been in the division, I fear the bears sign this turd to a cheap 1.5-2 mill. Deal.

He wishes Urlacher to remain in the division.

31 is not 30. Jimmy must be the result of a lousy education. That's the great thing about math, you're either right or you're wrong. And 31 is not 30.

I'd say you were correct if the Bears had shown strong interest in keeping him. He is reported to have asked for 5 million from the Bear and they said no. I think he is shopping around to see if he can get that 5 million from anyone and will eventually come back for 2.

Urlacher has not bad last year. He was not as good as we are used to. I'd like to see if his play was due to the Lovie induced knee injury from the year before or if he is truly finished.

The Bears are down 3 LB from last year as of now (Hayes, Roach, Urlacher). I think bringing Urlacher back and drafting one makes sense. The Bushrod and Bennett signings make Ogletree a viable candidate for the Bears if he is there in the 1st.

This is kind of like the Olin Kreutz thing. Aging team captain has little left in the tank, but demands more money than team is willing to pay.

I would take McGriff levels of bad for 1 more year. It's the Jeff Blauser levels of bad I think we are going to get.

Wait a minute...I thought the Vikings were going outside for 2 seasons at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium while they're building a new OUTDOOR stadium to replace what was the Metrodome for the longest time.

It's still the Metrodome. They're not allowed to change that. They just refer to the playing surface itself as "Mall of America Field," which is at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. It's dumb, yeah, but you don't step to The Hube in Minnesota.

And yeah, they'll be outside for a while in the near future, but they haven't started construction yet. Personally, I think they should have built TCF Bank Stadium to accommodate the Vikings and Gophers full-time. I thought Minnesotans were smart with their money.

this. even tho the vikings are fighting the 49ers in terms of signing everybody out there on the FA market, methinks if they aren't in this to merely get another iconic player from a division rival they're just trying to fuck with Cliff Stein and pals.

LITTLE DO THEY KNOW THAT YOU CAN'T FUCK WITH CLIFF. DAMN. STEIN. MWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Shark this next season will be the last year of the Vikings in the Metrodome. Then they will play 2 years at the Gophers stadium while the Metrodome is imploded and a new stadium is built on site.

Just a guess, but if you read the headline it was something about the sides being "in contact." Urlacher's people could have called the Vikes, said what he wanted, Vikes abruptly hang up... And that constitutes being "in contact."

The fact that it's the Vikings makes it seem possible that 54's camp was trying to get some fan reaction or momentum on their side by bringing up a rival.

Hopefully they won't mind too much that the reaction of the fans to this news was Meh.

Yeah, they definitely should never have allowed the Gophers or Twins to build a new stadium. Now they instead of the Metrodome they will have the Twins stadium, Vikings stadium and the Gophers stadium. The Metrodome was a major home field advantage for the Twins and for the Vikings. I do think a lot of people have torn up their knees on the carpet, but there were so many visiting teams that had such a problem playing there and couldn't win.

They should televise that on ESPN, then cut to a toast @ Ditka's restaurant. Every anniversary, Dutchie Carey can visit & toast w/ Ditka, celebrating the death of the Metrodome.

What the fuck, dude? The Metrodome was shit for baseball. If the Twins didn't get an actual baseball stadium, they would have left or been contracted. The Twins won at the Metrodome a lot because they were fielding good teams. Now they aren't. You have to be a real village idiot to ever argue in favor of astroturf in baseball.

Part of the reason why they got the new stadium was so they could give the big money to Mauer and Morneau. So they gave Mauer $184 million over 8 years. He's okay, but I think they'd be better off financially without him and still playing in the Metrodome.
