The guy was been taking a lot of flak here lately. I don't think it is deserved as he is just trying to find his fit in the new B and B show dynamic.

drinky is probably one of the few Score guys that would be fun to hang with outside of the broadcast booth.

Does that still happen though? I havent listened a lot the last few weeks, but it seems like whenever I do, the ONLY thing drinky does is interrupt with horrible jokes and really awkward comments in which he says Hey Dan a bunch of times(I think CH or Dave touched on this recently).

I'll leave specific speculation to the pros like Beardown and WhiteandProud, but I almost wonder if there's something that happened with Matty that pissed him off a great deal(I doubt he cares enough about Spiegs in general for that to be it) and he's taking it out on the air. He just seems like such an unfunny, miserable little prick now. I never remembered him ever sounding this miserable.

loved Matty ever since I met him. He's the most genuine host I've met, and I think Dan and Terry are great guys in real life too. Matt goes out of the way to remember everyone he meets, takes time even in the middle of shows to talk, really seems to want to work hard to be a host.

However, he can be a tough listen if he's not solo. He's better solo in my opinion. He can work well with someone who is easygoing (which is why he was great paired with Jason on weekends).

I agree with good dolphin that Matt got lost somewhere along the way as the tenor of the show changed. Now that the show is less about informing and entertaining with some laughs along the way and more about Telling You What's What, all he's really left to do is the thing where he plays dumb with Dan to gratuitously reinforce how stupid some loser is.

I thought he did decent Blackhawks postgame shows in 2010, for whatever that's worth.

I like Matty more than I don't, but as others have pointed out he's taken on this acerbic attitude of late that just isn't pleasant. And he really isn't funny try as he might. That's just a fact. The whole "Hey Dan, hey Dan" bit is just bad radio, and should be quashed post haste. I was a fan of the drinky that would challenge Bernstein, but that guy isn't around much anymore. If he gets back to that, I'm in his corner, but this latest incarnation of Abbatacola just doesn't do it for me.

You guys have nailed it.....surely a likeable dude, but his "angle" in regards to his on-air schtick is not great right now. His intentionally dense "hey Dan, you said it only matters if it get you closer to a championship.....well that's what you said......yah, but, that's what you said.....I heard you say that" schtick when he decides to pop on the air just sucks. It's not funny. It's so unfunny that he LITERALLY will confuse Dan at times, and Dan starts to legitimately debate him for a round or two before he realizes that matt is being "meathead matt". It's dumb. It's not some higher level of humor or some meta, cutting edge, schtick...it's stupid, and it's unfortunate that he's settled into doing that (and updates) for a living.

Not sure why/when he decided that being obtuse was the way to go, but he may just want to go back to ICB and see about retaking his geometry class /lamejokehewouldprobablymake

After the 20 minutes or so I heard today, starting around the enthralling" Ive never seen a black and white movie" talk , I dont know how anybody can defend this guy. He's just fucking abhorrently bad at radio. He actually makes Goff sound good. You guys need to burn all those ALS cards. Finfer is so much better than him right now its not even close.

Matt was a brutal listen the last two days. Maybe he's better solo. Or maybe he's better off the air completely. My ears could only, err, stomach about 20 minutes today. He tries way too hard when there's no humor there to begin with.
