Texas is the place. Hang 'em high!

Halfway through the year, and the Stars are the thick, warm middle of the Hockey Blob, with enough talent amidst their forgettable plugs to hover around 6th-11th all year. Whitney, Jagr, and whoever else was banged up for the Stars seem to be back in the lineup now, along with Jamie Benn, whom we missed before due to RFA collusion. They were missing Lehtonen for a while, who memorably stonewalled us last time in a just-barely-win, but he seems to be back as well.

Hawks are 22-2-3, adjusted 18-2-7, five points above expectation
Stars are 12-11-3, adjusted 11-13-2, they're playing right about to expectation

Hawks are 6th in goals scored with 3.074 per game, 2nd in goals allowed at 2.074, still the only team with a differential per above 1, and it's 1.000 right on the nose now.
Stars are 18th in goals scored at 2.577, 17th in goals allowed at 2.769

I think those quick numbers tell you all you need to know about the mediocrity of the Stars. Kinda over .500 with point inflation, kinda under without it, pretty much hovering around a break-even scoring differential on the year. This is A Hockey Team. The Hawks should beat these revolting cocks.

At first I didn't realize Austin had gotten a franchise. I suppose DFW is close enough.

RevCo, whut! Thread title reminded of a former life when I had gone into Wax Trax! as a youte on N Lincoln to get a TKK tee-shirt and some vinyl or some such. There were a couple guys in the office with the manager/owner Jim? (my memory of this period is a blur) and I was told without a shred of irony that they were in there smoking rocks and should not be disturbed. Later it was pointed out that it was Al Jourgensen (there is really no way to confirm this). For some reason this made me want to check out their back catalogue even more, as this was before Al had gone down to Austin and gotten all weird, and their sound began to change to the post-EBM thrash/industrial Ministry sound that most people are more familiar with today. The early stuff was probably more accurately described as dark synth-pop.

I digress here, no particular point to my story... I have nothing to profer on the actual hockey.

I had a dream last night that Joe Sakic came out of retirement and after an intense bidding war, the Hawks signed him. Sakic then took #20 because Toews was already #19 and who gives a shit about Saad's feelings apparently. Saad switched to #43. Sharp was then cured and ready to play. The Hawks went on a 3 game winning streak and Barry Melrose declared them the best team to ever play the game. I don't remember the rest.

Thank you for letting me share my story.

Had you been fortunate enough to be of age in the early 90's , you wouldve seen a young rogue in the middle of the mosh pit at the original Exit (1653 N. Wells for the uniniated) when this RevCo masterpiece came on. Ahh memories. :drunken:

Yep, Hawks are down to an 83.7% kill rate. That's not too special, nor is the 17.9% power play conversion rate. Anaheim is at 25%. That's lethal.

My opinion is that the kill rate has less to do with Sharp being hurt and more to do with the 5 games in what was it like 8 or 9 days? They were completely fatigued the last few games and it showed in special teams.

W T F were those warm up unis the Stars had on?? those were gnaw your arm off ugly. Tey actually wearing those for the game? Hawks will give up 3 goals because theyre retching on the ice just looking at them.

Been happening a lot this season and it's really fuckin annoying.

Nice to see Lehtonen give up a goal that didn't require us opening the gates of hell.

Toews has a lot of time to hat-trick if he wants.
