I think someone was watching HBO today. Back to the Future was on this afternoon.

Maybe since he didn't spend time anywhere on that first journey, no energy was used during the journey.. so due to the conservation of energy (note the flames on the ground when he left), the car had to be supercold on the return trip, thus the ice on the outside of the car.

--- the alternate answer is that Darkside was enjoying some of the items thtat he doesn't transport via car on holiday weekend when safety checkpoints are common.

Funny also is the Millery beer logo upon his very first entrance to downtown Hill Valley (1955). They added a cheesy y to the Miller logo.
Also, the letter changes from the time he writes it in the coffee shop to the time Doc shows it to him again in 1985 (I mean the actual letters not just the fact it's yellowed and taped back up).

ok, honest question that i've had since the very 1st time i saw BttF:


after marty saves the day and does his eddie VH impression at the enchantement of the sea dance, he runs into george and lorraine in the stairwell. lorraine then says, "Marty. That's a nice name."

now, wouldn't the new and improved george or lorraine say, "wow! our son marty looks identical to calvin we met back in 1955!"?

can anyone explain this?

but, it is a question that has been nagging me for 22 years. seems like a HUGE plothole that spielberg overlooked.

I would guess that since it's impossible to travel through time (at least to them), how would it be possible that Marty looks exactly like that guy from 1955.

Also, it's 30 years later...

Now, if there was a picture of Calvin in 1955....then that would probably freak them out.

I completely understand the question, Mope.

If this "Calvin" was so instrumental in their meeting and "hooking up" (not to mention suggesting a name for their child), why wouldn't they remember him and why wouldn't they get freaked out that their kid looks like him?

Granted, it's only been 10 years since I met my wife, but I can still recall the entire scenario (and so far, my son looks like no one that was there).

Also, Mark McClure, who played Marty's older Brother Dave, is almost 7 years older than Glover. Time travel indeed.
