The guy was pitching lights out for the Cubs before they moved him. Didn't he throw like 34 scoreless innings in a row or something?

He started hot n had a nice run in April n may, by July he was coming back to earth. Got shallacked in the a.l. west.

I never said to release or cut soriano, that is unrealistic. I said he sucks n trade him if ya can for anything. Moving that Guy at his age was a pipedream. I never thought the cubs could get it done.

This thread is so awesome that the Elmhurst Steve mult could copy and paste actual quotes from Steve and it would be funny.

Arguing over the literal or figurative definition of double and whether or not that matters?

As Keyser pointed out the Verducci effect has been debunked.

Its more about diminishing performance than injury, but its where a lot of the "No big jumps in innings" thinking came from.

Steve, whatever you think about Sale's risk, you should probably think about Szmardzija

Jesus.

It's simple math, if you can't manage it, find a 3rd grader to help you out.

This is hilarious coming from the guy who last year tried to do the math about Sale's IP pace, and Soriano's RBI pace, and failed miserably on both occasions.

But Smardie didn't double his innings. He's fine.

This should be in contention for thread of the year. Or maybe even make a new category. 'Unintentional Comedy' award thread or something.

If he were to stay healthy, increasing his innings by 8, would be nothing. But he's not gonna be able to go anywhere near that number because of the dramatically increased number of innings pitched last season (121 over the previous year) and the wear and tear it will have had on his arm.I'll be happy to say "I told you so" when it happens.

So what you're saying now is that there is little risk of him being injured because he was able to pitch 190 innings last year?

So if he pitches 180 innings we can go ahead and tell you "I told you so" and you'd accept that and not be a story changing whiny twat about it?

If he pitches 180 innings or more I will have been dead wrong. But thats not gonna be the case.

Elmhurst $teve has spoken. Chris Sale confirmed for under 180IP this year. Bet the farm on this one because you're gonna end up a rich man!

I fully expect this to be revisited repeatedly upon his being proved correct.

Darko, life will be much much better for you once you accept the fact that Elmhurst $teve was always, is always, and always will be right. You can't win an argument with an infallible guy like $teve. He's going to find a way to make you look bad. In this case, it's about THE INDISPUTABLE FACT that Chris Sale was worse in September than he was during the rest of the year, everything else just semantical * wanking motion *

ALL HAIL THE GREATEST CONTRIBUTOR TO THE CSFMB, ELMHURST "MONEY" $TEVE!

Scott Baker has been shut down until future notice. That didn't take long.

Ian Stewart cannot run anymore, looks like he will get his ass cut.

His dead ass still isn't back from his quad pull?

Great....Baker and Garza are both starting the season on the DL with no end in sight.

I am with Steve that the Edwin Jackson signing is the lone move that appears contrary to the plan. However, I can see the logic behing it if the figure they will not possibly be able to get good pitching up and going by 2015 so they need to start acquiring pitchers little by little leading to that year. Jackson this year on a 4 year, find another young pitcher on the open market next year and sign him and then another before 2015 while hoping the minors can produce at least one back end starter and middle relief.

I don't like the Jackson signing either, but if he throws 200 plus innings for 2 years and is decent he could be moved. Doubtful you can get anything for him. That is why the signing is bad.

They just signed him this winter. Now you think they are gonna dump him before they even begin the season? OMG this board is special...

You couldn't possibly be talking about Ryan Dempster could you?
Because he was signed on December 18th, and we KNOW winter actually started on the 21st.
Do you not even know how to use a basic calandar? What kind of putz doesn't even know the basic SEASONS?
