Is this something Matt said?

Yes, CH. He's very proud of the fact that he's never seen one. People keep texting in, asking have you seen this or that, and every text is met with a "No" or "Never heard of it." The more I hear Matt, the more I realize how dumb he really is. His jokes are horrible. He's basically the Adam Dunn of sports talk radio, with the ridiculous amount of jokes on which he swings and misses.

Hey Dan. Dan. Dan. Hey Dan. Black and white movies suck. If they're so great, how come they're not in color? Huh? That's like saying that going outside would be better if grass weren't green. That's dumb, Dan. Dan. Dan. If black and white movies are just as good as modern movies, then why does everyone think it's so great to have high definition. Which it is. Old movies are dumb. Hey Dan. Dan.

I liken it to the guy in Road Trip who's never actually been outside of his hometown.

I didn't think I'd miss Goff this much, but since he left Matty completely changed his personality. Its so damn hard to listen to the show because of his horrendous jokes. Today has been a god awful show with Matty co hosting.

I've thought of him as a total idiot douchebag since the first moment I've heard him talk.

Why does it matter if a team gets to 70 points or not? 70 pts does not equal a good game or a good game to watch.

I hate their thoughts on college basketball.

Exactly. Is a buzzer beater less exciting for a 70-69 game or a 55-54 game? Final score doesn't really matter in regards to that. And for the record, two of Dan's NBA darling teams scored in the 70s last night.

As I suspected, after a couple of refreshingly good days with Rozcrest as co-host, since Matty is there to encourage him the Berns douchery quotient has doubled to compensate for the last two days of relative douche-free radio.

Next.

Thanks Minooka.

I get $600 per show.

Drinky works for a fraction of that. You get what you pay for.

They used to be self deprecating. They used to make fun of themselves a lot. I really can't pinpoint when this show started taking itself so seriously.

I'd say when the Penn St scandal happened

Penn State and Matt Bowen pretty much changed the show from Smart Guys Bullshitting Around to Smart People Knowing What's Best And Right For Everyone.

That's exactly when it happened.

It changed from a fun, stupid show to super serious radio.

I would put the total conversion to bad at about 3-4 years ago.

It started to seep in with the 2006 White Sox talk/debate/screaming about "Ozzie Ball," "Fire and Passion," "Grinders," "Bunting" among other topics. I think this is when BernSTINE went totally balls deep into 'SABR or You're an Idiot' mode. The full march towards what we see now began around this time.

I think it happened when Cutler was signed. The show at that point went from Dan and Terry casually talking about the Bears to pretending to be experts, dissecting the x's and o's, despite not really being good at it. I'd say 2009 was when the change started. I believe that's also the same year Berns started his Sabr stuff.

Fully became. I agree with you that it started with the post-World Series Aaron Rowand grinder talk.

Agreed, when Bernsy discovered Baseball Prospectus and the meaning of WAR he went into total douche mode when discussing baseball.

I don't know of the total conversion but Bowen and Dan's newfound love of SABER was definitely a big part. Penn ST. finished it off.

Huh?

I originally couldn't pinpoint it, but the more I thought about it, it started to become clear.

It came full circle when Cutler got here, but it started in '06.

Make sense, or do you need me to draw it out on a napkin or something?

This sounds about right. I wonder if the elimination of North, then Mac at 1000, and finally Murph contributed to the change in tenor, with their enemies having been vanquished and being promoted to Kings Of Sports Talk by nothing so much as sheer attrition.
