I would put the total conversion to bad at about 3-4 years ago.

It started to seep in with the 2006 White Sox talk/debate/screaming about "Ozzie Ball," "Fire and Passion," "Grinders," "Bunting" among other topics. I think this is when BernSTINE went totally balls deep into 'SABR or You're an Idiot' mode. The full march towards what we see now began around this time.

I think it happened when Cutler was signed. The show at that point went from Dan and Terry casually talking about the Bears to pretending to be experts, dissecting the x's and o's, despite not really being good at it. I'd say 2009 was when the change started. I believe that's also the same year Berns started his Sabr stuff.

Yea. I use to listen all the time and this is when it started to decline for me. However, i still enjoyed the show enough to tune in pretty regularly. It was the Penn State scandal that turned me away from the show. I rarely listen now and when I do it's usually not for more than a few minutes at a time. Everything about the show sucks now for the most part. At least to me.

Yeah, OKC is on to something here. The "if you don't like __________, you're a moron and your opinion is invalid and you should hang up on yourself and stop watching sports forever" thing moved from an occasional insult slung at particularly brainless callers to a defining feature of the show right around the time of the Cutler trade. But things didn't get really bad until the Penn State thing. Since then, every show, even when they're talking about whether or not the Bears should cut Devin Hester or whatever, has been Very Important Radio of one sort or another.

See, for the most part I thought there was a lot of good radio with the Penn State stuff. It's the fact that the seriousness bled into everything else.

Around what time did B&B go from skeptical of (non-Blackhawks) team ownership to passionate champions of them? if they ever did?

I think Dan legitimately believes that any problem can be solved by a critical mass of Really Smart Guys, and that rich guys are the Really Smartest Guys of all. (If they're not, how'd they get all that money?) Excepting the Reinsdorf-slurping that's been a part of the show since basically forever, I think the supply-side fetishizing really ossified during the NFL/NBA lockouts. Big Black Studs don't belong in a collective bargaining negotiation any more than Really Smart Guys belong on the gridiron!

I still think it's funny that the one ownership group that pretty much did do everything right en route to a recent championship is the only one he won't praise. I wonder why.

Yeah I know. I don't expect it to be the NBA. I like the NBA and I like College basketball. Actually I like every level of basketball. I don't have to be watching the best players in the world to enjoy a good game.

bernstein doesn't think at all. he just pops off. The overall NBA field goal percentage is about 45%. What does he think the field goal percentage of the tournament teams is?

So much negativity here, let's look at some good entries:

Good
Sweaty dollar bills
Other people's children
Walking into a spiderweb
Hard to open pistachio shells
Missing trash day

Man the John Cusack Region is stacked!

Ironically, all the sponsors could have easily made the tournament: Bud Light, Southern Comfort, Acura, and Titled Kilt.

Hard to open pistachio shells are opened easily by taking half of a discarded shell to pry open the difficult one. It's not that hard. Then again, it's Matt we're talking about.

They suck if you repeatedly try to open them with your fingers, like Matt and Dan were saying.

Important until he is proven wrong or until it becomes convention, which is when he will windsock to take the opposite stance. Derrick Rose being the latest example. Lately callers who agree with them are considered idiots if their name isn't Maddux Boy or Schmutzie if they call in during the first 90 minutes when he and Terry are working into a lather. I noticed a long time ago that Dan doesn't like having on experts because they tend to expose his ignorance or comparatively limited knowledge, and lately I've come to notice that he can't be wrong so long as he uses his pulpit to give a sermon or issue a proclamation, and then go into break.

Amazing how a Rozner or Rosenbloom sitting alongside radically changes the tenor of the showgram. They simply call de facto bullshit on him and Bernstein is stopped cold in his tracks.

I hardly listen to B&B anymore but I have listened more this week because Boers is off & Berns is a lot better when TB is off...& I really like Rozner.

Is Berns still ripping NCAA Basketball, even though CBS owns WSCR & the tournament games are on the Score?

I have noticed a few times recently that Dan has had to just sort of be quiet as an expert guest basically told him he was plain wrong or that they disagreed.
