Too hard to spell "drinky" correctly?

I don't think there's anything wrong with him, per se. He's just Bad At Radio.

He has no intelligent thought about sports so he gets really nervous and tells a bad joke to waste air time.

He's a god damn fuckin' idiot. Just a complete dumb ass fool.

- Drink doesn't like black and white movies. If it's not in color it can't be good.

- He's blowing bubbles into his drink and making sure it's on the air. Even Bernstein thought this was retarded.

- Stuttering and slurring out sports thoughts in fragmented sentences. None of it makes any sense.

- Repeating Bernstein's exact thoughts right after Bernstein says it.

Drink has been there for over a decade. You'd think he'd learn some broadcasting skills and/or ability. You'd think he'd figure out that acting a fool hasn't worked for him. He gets to sub on the B&B once in a while. Big audience. #1 show in the male demo. And he's gonna behave like this? ALL THE TIME. That's the thing. He's always in ass hat mode. Like some kid looking for attention from mommy and daddy. People in radio would kill for the opportunities that he has had. He just pisses them away.

If some college kid submits today's demo tape to the 30th market in the country, the GM throws the tape out with no call back. It's embarrassing for drinky and the Score.

You're not gonna convince drinky otherwise. Can't teach this old dog anything. He thinks he's cute as hell. At his age, it ain't cute.

The most laughable thing is when drinky helps Dan yell at dumb callers. Drinky is dumber than any Score caller. Dumbest talk show host in the history of the Score. That's saying something.

That's the thing, he did learn and he did put on a good show when he had the chance.

What the hell happened?

Yeah, he had some good shifts on Blackhawks postgame and the 10-midnight show. It's only fairly recently that he's been Clueless Joe Jackson here.

I forgot to mention the "BAD JOKES". Never a good one. Always BAD. Any stupid joke or one-liner that pops into drinky's small brain is gonna be spoken on the air. He needs a filter. He also needs to develop shame. Shame prevents people from making an ass of themselves.

Most importantly, he needs somebody at the Score to tell him what this board tries to tell him. For his own good. Cuz he'll dismiss CSFMB even though we're right and are actually trying to help him. His friends at the Score need have an intervention with him. Not gonna happen. They all tell each other that they're great. Especially the "Team Bernstein" circle.

Here's my theory. He started doing that parody of the Sports Minutes with all the stammering and stuttering and stupidity and it became second nature for him.

If Jason were still here, he'd add that brothers don't watch black and white movies, either. It's frowned upon in The Community.

He was never good but he's actually regressed. 2008 drinky was better than 2013 drinky.

Maybe he knows he'll never advance at the Score. Realizes he's safe as B&B producer. So with that security he's gonna act an ass hole with his air time as a "fuck you" to Mitch and Zim for doing him wrong. Cuz drinky has a delusional belief that he's a star that has been held back by his bosses. It's that god-awful "I'm white, I'm entitled" attitude.

That's another theory.

Beardown and Vollmer Road Rod are both right.

I used to like Matt's old shows on weekend nights. It wasn't groundbreaking radio but it was decent for its time slot. Those sports minutes were so fucking awful. Like CBS sitcom bad. Matt spends most of his time going against what Dan says but listens to him when Bernsie says the sports minute parodies were good? Lesson learned I hope.

Could also be, what Doctors call, B&B syndrome.

Goff went bat-shit crazy in his final months with B&B. Maybe the same thing is happening to drinky.

Think about it. A decade plus of producing the B&B show. 20 hours a week of the weirdness and depressing show content. Years of Bernstein's influence and brain washing over his producers.

Yeah. "B&B syndrome" is certainly a plausible theory.

You no longer believe Goff left because Mac pimp slapped him over the Damaneeel shit?

But I get what you mean. Like there is no possible way for Matt to be like he was on his old shows because B+B drag you down to a pit of despair.

Yes. This guy makes Hanley look like Lenny Bruce. drinky tosses a lot of 1/2-Hanley jokes out there.

The parodies were funny right up and until he had to read regular copy. The humor of the novelty lasted less than a week.

Bernstien pretty much layed it down during Jason's last show that he wasn't going to be helping any of his subordinates move up in the industry and that they better look to themselves to move on. I think drinky took it to heart and is now trying to find a recognizable voice to market. He is just testing things out.

I don't think you needed to hear Bernstein say that during Goff's exit to realize that about him. Bernstein is in the game for himself and himself only. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I mean, a station throws a couple of producers your way when you get a hosting job. Why should you automatically be obligated to help them just cuz they answer your phone calls?

That being said, though Berstein would never go to bat for anybody, what he did for Goff by allowing him to basically become the 3rd talker on his show, was a HUGE help. Most big time radio guys wouldn't give their producers that type of exposure on their shows. He's allowing drinky the same type of freedom on his show. It's up to drinky to not sound like an idiotic fool every time he speaks.

Bernstein has been good to them by giving them exposure. Chicago only knows drinky and Goff cuz Bernstein allowed them to be a big part of his succesful radio show. He's done more than enough for them. They probably don't appreciate it as much as they should. Drinky sure as hell doesn't take advantage of it. Too busy being a clown ALL THE TIME.

So I'm putting the challenge out to drinky. Today is the day for change. This is the official audition tape for Mitch and Zim.

- Drinky is to speak the King's English today. Better if he develops a British accent but not neccessary.

- I want 2 good jokes. Just two!!!! With that, I also want no bad jokes. So think of two good ones and don't speak the ones that come into your mind during the show.

- 3 insighful sports thoughts. He can't repeat what Bernstein says either Those don't count. Has to be his own. With that, of course, he has to go the 5 hours with out any dumb ass sports thoughts.

- No clown act today. It's a talk show so fun should be allowed. Just not the weird, ass hat, childish crap that we got yesterday. So don't blowing bubbles in your drink. No hand in arm pit to make fart noises. You can't pull dan's chair out from under him. No towel snapping of the patrons at the bar. That sort of thing. None of that crap today.

What are you gonna do? I tried.

He fucking sucks. Worst radio personality in Chicago. I hope he loses his job and gets on Terry's bus.

When I signed up here, there was no bigger darling of this message board than Matt Abbatacola. It's been a long road down from "Drinky should host the morning show" to "Drinky should be run over by a bus."

Drinky = the guy trying to do a pseudo-jeselnik uber-douchebag bit next to Bernstein this week?

If so, it has been a painful listen, like the sound of man crying for no good reason. You just wanna tune it out and not think about it.

This was one of the more dickish things Dan has done. Beardown pretty much said it, but it takes some balls to be like "I'm not going to help you, I don't have to help anyone" as a guy who let his two regular producers turn a mic on whenever a thought entered their head, no matter how racist, insipid, or just plain unnecessary. It would be like being a TA for a teacher in high school, asking for a letter of recommendation for college, and having him say "I don't write letters. I have a no-letters policy. What could I say? Don't your grades speak for themselves?", trying to pass it off as deep Tough Mentorly Love but really just coming off as lazy and self-involved.
