Heard on the Mac show that he is going to be starting on the first line tonight. Not that it means anything past that shift, let alone the entire game or even the period, but if so, why? The only things I can gather are 1) they are trying to showcase him for dumping him at the trade deadline, or 2) they are saying to him "look, we're gonna put you on the top line to see how you respond; if you can't succeed THERE, then why should we keep you around?"...or am I reading too much into it?

Actually it wasn't wrong. I would still maintain the line change makes no sense unless they're trying to showcase him so they can trade him.
And I said he better get something going to justify a 17 TOI game, which he did, to his credit.
