That makes zero sense, bigfan. Why in the world would Riensdorf, at nearly 70 years old, move his charter AL franchise for a deal that is just "comparable" to what he has now?

1. Same or less costs with more attendance, is why he would move. Thus much higher net profit.
2. Passes the organization (CEO title) on to his sons, whom wouldn't mind living in nearby AZ within the next 10 yeara, as many family members are already there.

Makes a ton sense.

Thanks for giving me a fine example though.

How would costs be less? How sure are you that attendance would be higher? You think on a Wednesday nite versus the Twins the attendance would be radically different from the 21-25K it would be at the cell? How about them skyboxes?

The sons could still run things in Chicago and live in Arizona. There are these things call the internet, faxes, skype, etc which make working outside the "office" in Chicago relatively easy.

The only concern for JR would be some other team beating him there! There are lower worth teams than the Sox.

Frank, for every scenario you create I can create a scenario that is better in Las Vegas.

1. The costs could be $0. Considering the Sox pay rent via a % of tickets after 1.6M people, there is a rent cost to playing in Chicago, so I have now made you aware of why you are wrong on this point.

2. There is no guarantee that attendance would be higher, however, lets take a Friday Night game v Boston, got 20,000, Tues, early April v Balt 11,000, Fri, June 1 v Seattle 19K ( Vegas Doubles that), Cubs, Mon, June 18, Packed in vegas 45,000! 33,000 at Cell? July 4 v texas, Fireworks, 30K. All while in 1st place. Vegas creates more fans.

3. All Skyboxes are sold from Day 1 to Casinos, Celebs, Athletes living in Vegas.

4. And the facility would be built to be a MULTIUSE event center, owned by the city so all those other events that were going to be at the Cell and create streams of Income for the State of Illinois taxpayers, would really happen in Vegas, making the viability of the facility a reality.

5. Yes, I guess the family could move to Alaska and run the team as well, via Skype. Or they could be in an amazing brand new dome in Vegas and run the team with an easy drive from Glendale to Vegas.

All this said, they most likely would never move. I say most likely because IF Vegas was ever approved and this amazing deal was on the table, I can't imagine Jerry still having his powers and not getting a piece of the action in some way, considering he is the Chairman of the committee that approves such Franchises and Relocations.

Bottom line, Frank you are way over your head concerning the logistics of this deal and what has been on table.

Wouldn't Vegas be a lot better for the Cubs? Or Mariners? Or Twins? Or Rays? Or probably about 25 other MLB teams?

For somebody really does not believe the Sox are not moving, you have sure done a lot of thinking about it.

Yes, it is called thinking. You should try it sometime, let us know how it goes.

After my thought process, I don't think they will move.

Does MLB really want a team in Vegas?

Because the Mayor said he has grown weary of Jerry and crew.

Jerry and Crew have brought 7 championships to Chicago, and I don't know how many other playoff appearances....maybe 20 or more?

But he's talking about being a fan of the White Sox.

Very few post seasons for the White Sox

More under Jerry (5) than the rest of their history combined (4)

Because most of Jerry's tenure has been with more playoff teams. Not a fair comparison to the former Sox teams.

5 out of 30 is not anything to brag about.

I never said it was. I just said that Jerry, as an owner, has brought more Championships to Chicago than any other sports owner in Chicago's history, except for Halas.

It's bad fans like me that keep the Sox a second-rate organization. Bad ballpark. Bad announcers. Bad teams. 5 post seasons in over 30 years! GMAFB! The Royals? The Twins? You can't compete against that shit? "Maybe if more fans come out, we can acquire somebody at the deadline."

You know what? FUCK OFF. Go to Vegas you cheap old SOB.

I understand how hard it is for you to THINK, so I will once again help you out on this one.

I have stated that this is only a Rumor and will never be more than a rumor...as far as the Sox are concerned. IMO

Thus such a rumor, the closer it becomes to reality, helps YOUR White Sox negotiate a better deal. True, it is hard to get a much better deal, but even another $2-4$M, which would basically mean the Sox get the place for FREE, would be a benefit to the team. Would allow more money to be placed into Player contracts.

So the leverage that the rumor of this happening would help improve your team, thus you should like it.

Forbes just released their 2013 club valuations. While it will certainly not tell you the Sox are moving to Vegas, it does shed light on how much the team has grown over 2012. Heres the breakdown:

http://www.forbes.com/teams/chicago-white-sox/

From 2012 to 2013...
- Franchise Value is up 15%
- Player expenses dropped from $138M to $115M
- Operating income rose from $11M to $23M
- Revenue rose from $214M to $216M
- Value rose from $600M to $692M.

The White Sox have a terrific lease at U.S. Cellular Field. The team pays just $1.5 million in annual rent to the state, plus $3-7 for every ticket sold above annual attendance of 1.9 million. In return, the team keeps gross ticket receipts, and revenue from parking, concessions, signage and merchandise operations — including Chicago Sports Depot store and Bacardi at the Park, an adjacent restaurant that opened last spring that was financed by taxpayers. The White Sox do not pay rent on the properties, even though the Illinois Sports Facility Authority is paying the debt service on the restaurant project. The White Sox did pay for the build-out on the souvenir shop. Team owner Jerry Reinsdorf has leased the Bacardi restaurant to Gibsons Restaurant Group and the retail to Delaware North Companies Sportservice, which also runs the retail shops in the stadium.

If there was only a baseball team that would have considered a bigger facility!

Or is the facility expandable to a baseball stadium

Vegas would be worse than Atlanta or hockey in Phoenix. No one is from there. They are all from somewhere else and will only go to games when their original home team comes in.

Sounds like a fun trip to make. New Orleans NFL trip on steriods. I think it would outdraw 5K-7K being drawn now.

I do think MLB would need to be aware of that when making the schedule, thus home games on the weekends and road games during the week.

LV 51's Minor league team has averaged about 5,000 a game, but just play outdoor baseball in Vegas during the summer and this project would have a dome.

10,000-15,000 locals for a weekend night game, plus visitors.

NY's, CUBS, DODGERS, ROCKIES, DBACKS, ANGELS, TIGERS, BOSTON and maybe a few others would be sellouts, or very good attendance.

you can't walk through anywhere in vegas without bumping into a local with Chicago roots

I would make a trip out every year if the Sox moved.
