Stoneroses86 nearly lost everything because of the abuse of intoxicants. Now look at me, I am mighty and strong nearly fifteen (15) years later.

Good Dolphin is mostly accurate, in that it is unwise to become too upset over one's failures in remaining sober. At some point, however, it becomes unhealthy to view each failure as simply a temporary obstacle which can easily be overcome by re-committing to sobriety. At some point, there has to be a realization that the drug or the alcohol will kill you.

When one reaches that realization, it is not merely a matter of counting days - that is insignificant really. It is far more importantly a matter of embracing life and turning one's back on the ugly alternative.

I know exactly what you're going thru, last June I started throwing up blood and had to have my esophogheal varices mended, and blood transfusions.
You may not be able to say for certain whether or not you'll drink tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself, but be strong today. You CAN control today.
