Yes, this certainly occured to me when they were talking at the second murder scene
and Shelby sends him right over to Boyd's place to hopefully get killed. Took long enough
but now this season has my full attention.

There have almost been so many clues that they are doing it on purpose now and it is somebody else.

-Shelby was researching the Drew case on his computer earlier this year when he probably shouldn't have really had any interest in it.
-His talk with Ellen May about how if you pretend to be somebody long enough, that is how you become
-His interest in the ex-wife (he mentions her a couple times in this episode)

It's either very heavy-handed or a misdirection.

We also had about 5 or 6 people get killed.

I won't spoil it, but one was a main character.

All very good points. I think in the back of my mind a mental note was made about these instances but hadn't
placed them all together like you did. Also interested to see Colton continue to go off the tracks as he managed
to smoke a couple more guys in cold blooded fashion last night. Really was no surprise to find out who was texting
him though.

Plus Shelby talked about breaking his legs about 30 years ago.

I agree with the Doc, I thought the speech with Ellen May was the giveaway.
I like how they have now set it up to be Boyd v. Raylan with a lot on the line for both for whomever gets Drew.

My favorite part of the episode: the Dairy Queen franchise request.
Least favorite part: I went to college with the guy who played the ex military drug addict that Colt killed in the drug dealer's house. I was hoping for more from that character, but that's just because I know the actor.

I thought Tuesday night's episode was remarkable--one of the best ever in the show's history--and it really pulled different plot strands together for me. Shelby's speech about the mutable nature of identity--assuming he is Drew Thompson--elevated his character to the status of a controlling metaphor for the show. His trajectory as a criminal who has become a cop--simply by committing himself to "pretending" to be something he wasn't--foregrounds the question of self-transformation that is so crucial for so many characters: Is it possible for Boyd and Eva to make the leap from "white trash" to "white collar"? Can they traverse the gulf separating the legitimate businessman from the legitimate one? (This question is a complex one since the show seems to belief there may be no such thing as legitimacy in the state of permanent economic calamity that defines the shows neoliberal purgatory. Boyd suggests that everyone is a criminal, but few are outlaws. Is he fundamentally correct, though?) Can Ellen May move from socially marginalized prostitute to a respected member of her community? And perhaps most importantly, can Raylan make the transition from a trigger happy sociopath fiercely dedicated to a warped sense of justice to a figure who pursues a form of justice that will allow himself, his family and his community to find peace? Or is he, like his doppelganger Boyd Crowder, doomed to an unstable life that will forever unleash the "creative destruction" that lies at the heart of contemporary capitalist society?

The answer is yes.

Outstanding episode.

Deputy Bob made me guffaw loudly.

Are you as disappointed as I am that they haven't even bothered with Dickie Bennett or Dewie Crowe, two awesome characters, and we've gotten nothing from them this season.

Really? If I have one criticism of the show is that they introduce so many damn characters and don't use some of them fully, those two in particular.

Dickie's character has pretty much been used up don't you think?

And Dewey was nothing but a comedy act.

If they come back for a cameo I'd laugh, but it's not a big deal to me.

No, I think they can still use Dickie. His family is all but wiped out but he's a fascinating combination of goofy/disturbing and he and Raylan have an odd relationship. I also liked the comic relief Crowe added, brought some levity to the show. If they were to bring one of the two back I'd prefer it to be Bennett.

I'd agree Dickie would be the one to bring back. Maybe he'll pop back up next season.

Solid episode. After the solid Walking Dead and then this one I am happy with my current stable of shows
and the direction they are headed.

The only thing that was a bit off last night was Tim letting Colt leave with Boyd.

Maybe he wants to kill him for what he did to Mark.

I enjoyed the shit out of the scene in Boyd's office.

I think it was just to show how fucked up Colt is and how much he was unnerved by the call from Johnny last week. Like in the tent, Colt has his gun in the front when last week he told the drug dealer that having a gun in front was a stupid gangbanger move.

I also liked the beginning scene in the house on Clover Hill and Ava dismissing the realtor.

The second half of this season has been so great.

I am going to go with Dr Ken's guess from 2 or 3 weeks ago that it will end up being Colt against the
younger deputy Marshall ( his name escapes me ). Both vets, etc..... should be a good showdown if
Colt is straight.

I'm just glad they didn't drag out the Who is Drew? mystery anymore.

Raylan got the call maybe 10 minutes before Nicky showed up. I'd think that it probably takes longer to get people mobilized than that.
