Question for any of the family men on the board or anyone who may have insight on the subject. Mrs Scorpio is pregnant with twins and we already have one child now. Come August we are going to need to put 3 carseats in the car at one time. We dont want to have to get a van or SUV because they are more expensive and the last thing we want is to be spending more money.

Any experience getting 3 seats to fit in a regular sedan or is this an impossible dream?

Logistically, an impossible dream.

My cousin had triplets, and they had to get a mini van.

I've often wondered how IMU has his driver's-seat booster chair set up.

As I feared.

They fit in the backseat of a 2005 Camry.

We did it for awhile in one of our cars, but the oldest was big enough for the booster seat thing rather than a regular car seat. Not sure it is possible with 3 regular car seats.

My neighbor had triplets in December and they also had to get a minivan and the three seats still barely fit. The bases on those things are so damn bulky that I don't know you could. Unless Hank JR is in one of those seats that don't buckle in unless the child is in them. If so that would have to go in the middle. On the other hand I drive a minivan and love it. Decent gas mileage, about 22 mpg. Also you are going to need it just to pack shit up to go anywhere.

Also congrats!

You might want to check the used bus section.

kid 2 is imminent for me and my hope is to have the infant (rear facing) seat in the middle while the toddler (forward facing) on the side. This way I can still have 1 person in my back seat.

I'd think your only chance would be to have a forward facing seat in the middle and surround that with rear facing seats.

Good luck, and congratulations.

My little guy is 3 now and he is about 35lbs. I just dont think he is tall enough for the booster seat yet. He might be good to go by August though.

Thanks for the info fellas.

As one with three kids myself,
they do make slim seats but they are rather expensive.
We went with the minivan. While it is a sucky thing to get...at first, but when you see the space (remember 3 car seats mean practically no storage space) and the comfort of the drive, you will not complain. Especially if you get the DVD players. We use them for road trips only but 12 hours in the car between PA and Chicago are significantly more bearable.

My manager had 3 boys in a calender year....She had the first boy in March 2011, and then twins in March 2012. She's always had an SUV though. She's in a Trailblazer now.

Sell the born child. Use those funds for an SUV for the twins. Problem solved!

Or, put the kids in the backseat and have Uncle Leo follow you wondering what the fuck you are doing;

Or just kick the wife out....because after having 3 of your kids, sex is no longer an option.

Just have Mitt Romney follow you around with one of the kids on the roof.

It was supposed to be a "Ben and Kate plus 8" reference, but I failed.
