They showed a stat from last year 63% run expectancy for the Cubs with runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out. 85 % was the average. When you put offensive crap out there like Valbuena and lillibridge I can see why they are 20%below the league average. Those 2 were completely over matched and lost up there at the plate.

That was awkward.

Nice quick inning by the shark after the offensive fail.

So far so good considering the rapport with Len should only get better. Hopefully he isn't blowing all his best stuff so far.

I liked the analysis...Lillibridge can't catch up to the fastball. Don't sugarcoat it...

Couldn't the Cubs run a squeeze play with Lillibridge at the plate?

That whole bunting contest they had in spring training....did anyone actually work on their bunting?

If you can't hit, learn to bunt.

wouldn't mind seeing that either. They're going to struggle to manufacture runs the traditional ways.

It looks like the Pirates mascot is up to his old tricks. First person to get that reference wins my Shawn Kemp Tough Jams folder from 1994.

The good news.....AJ has 86 pitches through 5

The bad news... Marmol is probably going to pitch at some point today

Nice work SHARK. Gets through 7 without giving up a run. Didn't think I would see that today.

Literally getting itchy now. Skin crawls are the worst. Maybe Marmol got the crap out of his system in AZ.

Maybe you're having a threesome with SJU and Jessica Burciaga tonight.

Itch location would be a little different in that situation.

8 innings of shutout ball and 9 Ks!

Easily best pitcher in Chicago.

What's the over/under on a hit batsman before the end of the inning?

Aaaap. WCUB pulled my guy before he could hit someone. JR might still get it done, but the odds have dropped significantly.

Hope he never gets an opportunity to close again. Just use him in games where your starting pitcher gets hurt or you have a huge lead or deficit.

At least Sveum had the balls to pull him and not just sit and watch Marmol piss the game away just because he's the "closer". Fuck that and Marmols feelings, cant put 1 guys butthurt ahead of the team.

They are going to have to just bite the bullet on Marmol. He sucks and there is nothing to be gained from continued save appearances. His trade value is zero. You will get nothing for him and have to eat the remaining money. This team cannot afford to give wins away. Mop up duty.

Its too bad that trade didnt go through in the off season. Anything more than a bag of balls and used syringes wouldve been a steal for him.

There's nothing burrito about winning 162 games. Do the Cubs even have to play these games?
