As far as pulling punches on black figures,they were all over Ray Lewis during the SB. Also,they have been pretty mean to Devin Hester over the years. I do think they hate the "grindy" white guys more then anybody though.

Dan can't move on because he wants to dwell on the negativity of sports. What Alford did was wrong without a doubt, but it is old news. Since the topics of Penn St., Paternos, and Lance Armstrong fail to elicit a reaction from the audience, and instead of focusing on White Sox, Cubs, and the Blackhawks wins, he chose the Alford story. His goal is to goad stupid people to call so he feels intellectually superior to feed his own ego. Instead of focusing on this case, why not explore the case of the Rutgers coach assaulting his players and throwing basketballs at them? This is something current and should provide a day or two of show material.

Even someone like me who believes tough love is still needed in sports today disagrees with his conduct and he should have been fired when the tapes surfaced initially.

The worst part of the show was the caller telling Bernsie how great of a job he did with the PSU stuff, and that he probably made a impact in the case. Really? Then he tells Bernsie not to let people forget about Alford and the Iowa stuff. This guy should have been kicked in the nuts a million times.

I wish Mitch would control his hosts more. B&B stray to bullshit topics to often. Nobody cares about PSU, Alford, CTE, Armstrong, or Bernsie's weird kids.

The show hits critical mass and the ancillaries follow.

The first sentence and the second sentence are not mutually exclusive.

Why do you think the memes are said so much?

Probably because they say them on the show and they are ridiculous.

I'm not debating the ridiculousness of Bernstein's statements. My issue is that for instance, "Big Black Studs" hasn't been uttered on the show in awhile, yet it's a part of every show thread. Not just the show thread either, but any basketball discussion on this board of any kind, whether college or NBA. Don't you see how that gets to be a bit much sometimes?

Again, just wondering what the end game is. JORR, Brogue, Curious...these are guys with good thoughts. I'd just like to read some insight instead of the low-hanging fruit of meme-hunting. That's all.

Yeah, it was a weird mix. I'm not easily offended, but I have to believe a bunch of listeners were. Somehow, in their zeal to show Alford for the scum he is, they basically pass over the real bad guy that gave Alford the clear opportunity to show what a slime he is. There's a Christian angle in there somewhere and a possible reluctance to paint a black sexual predator as exactly what he is. And amongst all of that, bernstein throws out a thought about his regret in not impregnating a black woman. A joke, I know. But it was just strange. And it obviously had to offend somebody. He's the guy switching back and forth between offensive humor and Very Important Radio. And that takes a deft touch that he definitely lacks.
