Stop running up the fucking price days and hours before the auction is over you fucking idiots. You are supposed to wait until about 20 to 30 seconds is left and then put in the MAXIMUM amount you are willing to pay for the item. You will get many more great deals that way instead of running up the price to market value well before the auction ends. I really hate you all of you.

I don't even understand the the practice of waiting until the end of the auction to enter one's max bid. I simply enter my max bid on my opening bid. If an item is not worth more $100 to me on Monday then why would I all of a sudden on Wednesday feel it is worth more to me just because someone else feels it is worth more to them?

Either I get it for the price I am willing to pay or someone else gets it for more than I was willing to pay.

"Best Offer" is great.

This is why I hate you. Entering your maximum bid on Day 1 ONLY helps the seller. Even when you win you really lose. There will be people (including the seller and their fake accounts) that will constantly bump the price up in an attempt to outbid you. If you're patient and wait until the end you will get far more items for a fraction of what you were willing to pay. Why pay $195 when you could have gotten it for $125? Why pay $600 when you could get it for $450? The only time it is okay to do that is when I am selling something on Ebay. At that point you are free to make your maximum bid on Day 1.

It is hidden. Problem is when you set it early, everyone constantly tries to outbid you by a few dollars and it bumps the price up. Before you know it there have been 70 bids and there is still 2 days left.

I don't think you understand Nas' point fully. By setting your max bid early, you're giving the seller an opportunity to bid up the price of the auction with his other fake account. If something is up to $100 on day 2 of a 7 day auction, that seller probably thinks he could at least push the bidding up to $125. By throwing in your bid in the closing seconds, you take away some of the opportunity for bidding shenanigans by the seller.

1. He doesn't but he can find out by bumping it $5 or $10 every time. You can look at the bidding history at times and see a few people constantly bumping their bids.

I've used fake accounts to drive prices up for things I was selling. A lot of people do this. It helps when you have an unknowing fool bidding against you early in the auction.

Waiting also protects you from the half-ass bidder that doesn't really want the item but sees the price is low.

If you bid $100 max on Day 1 and that puts the price at $20. Then, you might see that guy on Day 2 that says "Hey, that's only $20, I'm going to bid $22. Oh, not enough, $25. Damn! I'll go $35 but then I'm stopping. Shit! OK, $40. Forget this."

Now you pay $41.

But, if you had not bid at all, DoofusBidder bids his $20 on Day 2 and thinks "I've got this". You sweep in on the last day and bid your $100 and grab it for $21 and save yourself $20.

That this has all been wonderful, but now I'm on my way

IMU I've seen it happen far too often. When I first started using Ebay I was also guilty of placing bids on things I really didn't want just because the price was still low. There are smart bidders and then there are people who make smart bidders pay more than they normally would. That happened to me last night. I got what I wanted at a good price BUT I should have gotten it for $60 less if it weren't for stupid bidders that kept running the price up. I made 1 bid with 15 seconds left and won.
