The entire infield should be fun to watch. Vogelbach, Amaya, Candelario. Dillon Maples will likely get added to Kane County after XST. I'd guess Albert Almora at some point after he recovers. Pierce Johnson is probably the only pitcher to get excited for, but who knows. I won't pretend to know much about pitcher developments.

If you do, don't take Roosevelt Rd. through West Chicago. They are building a bridge over the railroad crossing by the DuPage Airport, and there are huge delays.

In an interview yesterday with Theo, he explained the pick. They bit the bullet to carry him last year simply because the see a ton of upside, even though he is really raw. He thinks it will be worth it in the long run.

He was in single A when the Cubs took him in the Rule 5 draft to begin with.

If he was up last year and on the 40 man this year then doesn't that make him already out of options come next season?

The Cubs have signed outfielder Ryan Sweeney to a minor-league deal, Evan Drellich of MassLive.com reports. Sweeney was released by the Red Sox this weekend. Sweeney is represented by Reynolds Sports Management. Sweeney, a native Iowan, will report to Triple-A Iowa. In 2012, Sweeney hit .260/.303/.373 in 204 at-bats with Boston.

Saunders, Baez, Soler batting 2,3,4 for the Daytona Cubs tonight in their opener.

Saunders is 1-2 with a double and rbi
Baez 0-1 with a sac fly
Soler is 1-2

The pitching in Iowa is still god fucking awful. 10 runs yesterday. 7 already today.

Logan Watkins has a few hits. Jackson hasn't done shit 0-3. Vitters is still medically redshirting or something.

Baez!!! Went yard for Daytona. The D Cubs have a 8-0 lead. Soler has a hit as well. DeVoss is 3-4. Saunders has been doing a valbuena act at the plate tonight.

Starling Peralta has pitched 5 innings of 1 hit ball. Very impressive. I believe I saw him last year in when Peoria lit up Kane County and he was excellent.

TN is up 6-2

Villeneuva has a few hits and 2 rbi, Ha and Szczur have a hit a piece.

I think Vitters has discovered Xanax.

Vitters has a "back spasms" now  Good to see Stewert has rubbed off on him.

Daytona and TN won again last night. Didn't get a chance to look at the TN box score but I believe Szczur and Ha had some hits.

In Daytona Baez is struggling despite his 1 hr.....3 games in though. Saunders was 3-4 from the 2 spot but didn't score any runs or drive any in. Just a good batting average day. Soler came through with his first bomb of the year and is hitting in the mid .400's.

First week for BJax was bad. Swing change hasn't stopped his K-rate. One more month and you can cross him off.

Vitters better get his shit together or his career will be over quickly. Good to see Soler doing well. That other Cuban the Dodgers paid big money to (Yasiel Puig) looks to be a fucking beast. Tommy Boy should have stepped up and signed him too.

After a few weeks of games its time to check in on things down on the farm.

AAA
This team is fucking terrible. Bogusevic has been hitting well and so has Sweeney but both are mlb has beens at this point. Brooks Raley has been decent pitching....the only one decent on the staff so far. That is all I want to say about this shit team. Vitters is suffering complications from his pregnancy or something and Jackson is for some reason on the bench pinch hitting.

AA
Jae Hoon Ha OF - This is his 2nd stint in AA after a late season promotion last year. He is batting .305 with no hr and 9 rbi. 5 steals and 9 walks.

Matt Szczur- OF- For some reason he has kind of fallen off the radar...probably due to Almora,Baez and Soler taking all the attention. He is batting .299 with 2 hr and 12 rbi. He also has 6 steals. I believe he is on a major league deal which should make him out of options pretty damn soon.

Carlos Villenueva -3b- Barely over the Mendoza line. Not a great start.

2 guys that really aren't prospects Rubi Silva OF and Ronald Torreyes are both hitting over .300

Erik Jokisch -Starting LHP out of Northwester. Not really a prospect...yet but he has been lights out in his first 3 starts. 1.00 ERA, 17 ks in 18 IP and 3 walks, 11 hits given up. Can't ask for much more than that.

Dae-Eun Rhee-Starting RHP from the garza trade (hak ju lee btw tore his acl today i believe) 2 starts...10.1 ip 4 k's, 3 walks, 3 hits. He has had a good few starts but I need to see half a season of this and a better k/walk ratio.

Zach Rosscup LHP reliever- Kid has been great so far. 6 games, 8 ip, 13 k's, 2 walks, 5 hits. Nothing wrong with that....nothing at all.

Frank Batista RHP Closer- 3 saves 1.08 ERA

A Daytona

Javier Baez SS-.208 3 HR 9 RBI 23 k's!!!

Jorge Soler OF- .378 2 HR 6 RBI Stone cold killer

Tim Saunders-Everywhere except P/C- .259 3 SB (hit by a pitch and missed over a week)

Some other guys- Stephen Bruno came up to fill in for Saunders and has been ripping the ball at .358, John Andreoli .338 8 RBI 6 SB, He is next in the line of (greenberg, fuld,Campana), Stephen Gieger 3b has provided most of the run support with 2 hr and 15 rbi at a .281 average.

Not much to speak of as far as pitching right now. Frank Del Valle has been decent as closer and Austin Kirk has been the best starter but he is pretty damn old for that level seeing as he was drafted 4 years ago. Starling Peralta continues to show flashes of greatness and then flashes of fucking awfulness the next night.

A Kane County

Rock Shoulders -1b- He has been hitting the fuck out of the ball. .424 4 hr 13 rbi
Dan Vogelbach-DH fat guy- .311 1 HR 7 RBI
Catchers Wilson Contreras and Chadd Krist have both hit the ball well in what looks to be equal duty behind the plate. Both are over .300

This team has snowed out and rained out a lot so far so these numbers are based off of probably 15 less AB's than usual.

Pierce Johnson RHP (draft pick last year) Has had 1 real good outing, 1 above average outing and one bad 2 inning outing.

Taylor Scott RHP - same deal as Johnson with the 3 outings

Felix Pena RHP- 2 excellent starts and one bad start, no runs in the good 2 and 5 in the bad one

Its too early to get much of a read on anyone but thats what some of the guys have been up to the last 3 weeks.

Kyle Hendricks has a no no going through 5 for the Smokies today. The AA Cubs aren't hitting much either as its 0-0.
