I was told the sheep fill the stadium no matter how good or bad they are. Where are all the people from Iowa for opening day next Monday?

I'm guessing they will sell out.

Regardless, you need to stop with this stupid strawman. Are you really suggesting- whether they sell out Monday or not- that they would do better in Rosemont. It's idiotic.

However much you wish they were in Rosemont with a HUGE parking lot for your own convenience on the three occasions you go each year, I'm sure you can understand that the Cubs sell lots of Wrigley Field shirts and caps. Do you really think they will be selling Stephens Field shirts and caps? And if they do, that anyone will be buying them? There are people that go to Wrigely Field because of the park rather than because of the 100 loss team that plays there. Whether you want to admit that FACT or not.

Not enough to make up for lost revenue from parking and Sky Boxes.

No. I use common sense. If moving was going to make more money for the owners, they'd be gone.

Didn't you just state yesterday the owner of the Cubs is an idiot?

Wrigley is unique. 1 of 2 in American Sports. There is crazy amount of money in that. Rosemont is nonsensical for a variety of reasons.

Hmmmm, I was told all Cubs fans blindly trust and are OK with Theo, "The Plan", and the Cubs direction.

Quite an endorsement.

It looks like you've recovered from the suicidal thoughts you had when you last argued with me and you want to do it even more!

Have Cub fans really turned on Theo already? How many Cub fans disapprove of the job he is doing? It seems like right now it's rpb and jimmypasta.

While I don't think Ricketts was smart enough to rub his hands together like Mr. Burns and say, "Heh, heh, heh, if I hire Theo, I can slash payroll to small market proportions and the fans will love me for it!", ultimately that has been the result.

There was along drawn out discussion yesterday about how Ricketts is in over his head and doesn't have the money needed to compete. An argument advanced by you. If he was a "smart" owner he would not have leveraged all his money into buying the team and have nothing left to pay for players.

That was Todd Ricketts. And while Tom may not have been smart enough for that specific plan, JORR never said he was a complete idiot on the level of his useless brother. Tom's problem is being too small a fish in too big a pond, really. Doesn't belong in Chicago. Doesn't belong in the majors.

So you don't think the Bears could have had a more profitable situation then the abortion of a remodeled stadium they are currently in?

Or the fact Uncle Jerry did a shitty job with the ball park design at the cell and got the state to spend millions on changing a bunch of stuff?

You've turned on Theo, or you are done arguing with it? Either way, you do a poor job communicating that on this message board.

Cool. I recommend you not reopen the discussion then. That's the best way to be done with it.

Why Rosemont?

Because they want the Cubs?

I mean, supposing the Cubs HAD to move. Would Rosemont be the best choice?

Obviously Schaumburg is the best choice...no matter the question.

Rosemont is pretty good. close to o'hare, ample hotels, direct access to several expressways and public transportation from the city, close enough to the traditional fanbase location that it wouldn't be a deterrent to get to.

I wonder if this thread is going to look foolish when the opening day sellout is announced?

Well you obviously have. Lets see the results.

I wonder what the results would look like. Parking and sky boxes require a lot of capital, will only be used 81 times per year and depreciate immediately. T shirts take almost nothing and can be sold for huge markup 365 days of the year.

Id prefer something even closer to the traditional location.

No. I use common sense. If moving was going to make more money for the owners, they'd be gone.

Wait so Conn's thoughts aren't valid cause he hasn't read the spreadsheets but your stubbornness about the Cubs staying in Wrigley based just off what you consider common sense is perfectly justified?

That doesn't seem to follow common sense.

Conns' thoughts are bad because there is no basis for them. He's pulling them out of the air.

My thoughts are superior because the Cubs have been owned by some hard bottom line businessmen who certainly have had the wherewithal to move the team if they believed what Conns believes. But maybe Conns is just smarter than the billionaires that actually have to make the decision.

Explain the "new" Soldier Field and how that is not an abortion? Really rich people had that built.

Those really smart rich people in Sacramento have done wonders to the Kings.

Sam Zell was really rich and ran the tribune into the ground.
