I was just tossing a little bit at the wall but I'm not in complete agreement. I would love to see him back now as a fan but he has to do what he believes is best for his career and shouldn't care about what I think or his teammates think. From all accounts he is close to being the old D Rose. Of course that could be exaggerated.

I disagree. He owes something to the team and his teammates. It's a team sport.

Also, what you're saying is a pride issue. Again, he has no right to that, in my opinion. He is capable of playing right now, and he needs to start playing. He's stealing more money than Ron Paul ever did right now.

That would be true if he isn't still hurting in some way. Didn't it take longer for him to have surgery? Isn't there the belief that the longer it takes you to have surgery it means there is more damage?

Even though Derrick Rose tore his ACL in late April in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs vs. the Sixers, he didn't undergo surgery until May 12th last year.

Everyone is hurting in some way at this point. Rose isn't special. He has been cleared to play for awhile now, and he needs to go play. Looking out for your own career is all well and good, but quitting on your team isn't looking out for your career. This is the kind of shit that earns all NBA players reputations as soft, whiny divas.

Speaking of which, at what point does insurance start picking up the tab for a player on the IR list?

If there were a medically valid reason for Rose to continue sitting out then that would be made public (by his PR people if not the Bulls) and the controversy would go away. Further, I don't believe there is any chance that Bulls management (particularly Reinsdorf and Paxson) would risk the future of their highly paid superstar in any way with virtually no chance of a title in the balance. That tells me they agree with the medical staff that the next step for Rose is to play himself back into form and that the risk of re-injury is not going down with time.

He's run out of excuses. There's no reason to not be back on the court right now. If it was almost any other player in the league they would be getting crucified by the media and justifiably so. Can you imagine if Melo pulled this shit?

Or Wade. Or Dwight. Or Amare. Or Garnett. Or anyone who has ever, at some fleeting moment, been in someone's eyes kind of an asshole. But because this is Derrick, Our Derrick, Our Special Precious Little Sheltered Man-Child Who Was Protected From Gangs So He Could Make Chicago Proud Derrick, he's allowed to drag this whole process out and say that only God knows when he can play again. I'm tired of the way the media treats Derrick Rose as a cross between Forrest Gump and Webster. Hold him, someone, anyone accountable.

OK then. It is Vlad Radmanovic's fault. Dude smells. And Derrick does not want to deal with that shit on the bench. And quite frankly who can blame him.

Exactly. This has changed my opinion of Rose. I'm not going so far as to say he's a quitter and a baby and I'll never root for him again or any of that meatball shit. But he's clearly not as dedicated to his team and his sport as he says he is. At some point, I have to start doubting his competitive nature.

The whole "I would die on this court" video looks really bad now. Almost as bad as throwing a championship parade nine months before losing in the NBA Finals.

he wouldn't even fuck a girl on a basketball court. its nothing but a job to him. hes just maximizing his paychecks. nothing to see here... hes a decent role player. guys like Hamilton will always be more valuable since they play a lot more minutes.

I heard ESPN Radio's Carmen DeFalco mention this earlier today. DeFalco mentioned former Bull B.J. Armstrong, who was once the Bulls' Assistant GM when Jerry Krause still generally managed this franchise prior to Krause's dismissal in 2003.

Carm mentioned that Armstrong, who was passed over for the Bulls' GM job when Krause was dismissed, supposedly has an axe to grind at Bulls' management. Carm thinks that the former Bulls' player & executive, now part of the Derrick Rose camp, has as much to do with Rose still not playing as others in Derrick's inner circle associated with adidas & agent Arn Tellem. In plain English, I wonder if #1 is getting advice from people outside of the Bulls' organization that's keeping him from playing a single minute. Something to think about.

BJ Armstrong is a little bitch himself; if someone's that fucking stupid to take advice from a nobody who was on the right team at the right time, then that just speaks to character, and in this case it helps advance the idea that Derrick isn't some innocent figure in this whole affair ... more and more it seems quite the opposite.

I'm like one more post away from sitting next to Ike and calling Rose every name in the book except 'white man'.

Not only was B.J. an all star but he was my favorite player as a young kid.

I'm not sure this is about dedication or anything like that. It just seems like he's scared, judging from his comments about not coming back until he feels 100%. He doesn't want to risk blowing out his knee. Not that this justifies the hold out or anything, I just don't think it reflects a lack of dedication to the team and sport.

I also wonder if there's also a lack of trust between Bulls' players & the team's medical staff on the whole.

Before he left to become evening host at The Game SportsRadio in Atlanta earlier this year, I remember Jason Goff warned Bulls' fans of such discord between players & medical staff on one of his SCORE shows here. I wonder if we're seeing that in the Rose case right now.

I think its clear derrick sees the bulls as just an employer. he thinks this is just the same life that everyone else deals with- where you have to do whats best for you and your family.

somewhere after the moment he signed his 90mil contract, and before he signed the 200mil shoe contract, he forgot that he doesn't live in the normal world anymore. hes basically pulling a dr dre and saying "mp3's are killing my children!".

guess what derrick? you might be raking in the cash, but your legacy is gone. you are not the best at anything, your not an mvp, and BECAUSE of the way youre doing this nobody gives a fuck about you. hope you have a fun life being a rich loser.

Well said. Unfortunately.

Especially remembering just how much hell the Bulls org. took for trying to keep a starving to play MJ sidelined in '86. (And how many medical excuses they trotted out to try & justify their position)

Well, if he just does his job at the office and goes home, Dan should be all about him. He liked Derrek Lee for that same reason. I always thought Lee was kind of a shithead, myself, blaming Cubs fans for everything and saying that Sox fans were better fans than Cubs fans were.

Guys, when Bulls' Owner/Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf was on ESPN Radio last summer, the boss claimed that his "Airness" came back too soon from a foot injury in 1986 that sidelined him 63 games. That was just as serious an injury as when Derrick tore his ACL 1 year ago this month.

True, but he better hope the Bulls don't make a run in the play-offs only to fall to the Heat...while he sits in street clothes. People would be much less forgiving.

It's all about him being scared. He's too much of a pussy to come play right now. It's that simple. He's fine to play, and he's being a bitch about it for no reason. That's a problem to me.

NEW YORK -- Tom Thibodeau said Thursday that before any decision is made on whether to shut down Taj Gibson for the rest of the season, Gibson will be evaluated by team doctors.

Gibson will miss Thursday's game in Brooklyn after re-injuring his left knee on Tuesday in Washington. Gibson, who previously missed three weeks with the injury, confirmed that an MRI taken Wednesday revealed no significant tear and that he merely aggravated the MCL in his left knee that he sprained in a Feb. 24 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"It's good news," Gibson said. "I felt like it would be good news depending on how everything [looked]. There was a little bit of swelling but it was mostly like scar tissue. The only thing about it was it was just painful.

"It shows that I still have a long way to go as far as my rehabilitation, just getting the leg strong. Because the way it buckled on me I was just on a lateral slide and it just buckled on me. It was real painful. We'll have to see how it's going to go this morning in practice, but just keep pushing."

Nine games remain in the regular season, and Gibson is hoping to come back before the playoffs.

"Yeah, that's the mindset," Gibson said. "I don't really plan on hopefully being out a long time. It depends on how I'm feeling. It's sore right now and it could be less sore [Friday]. That's how the knee works."

Gibson knows that no matter when he comes back he will have to play through pain.

"Yeah, that's [what] I have my mind set on when I first came back," he said. "I knew that we were sliding down the pole, almost close to the eighth spot with the way Boston was playing and stuff like that. I just wanted to come out here and try to help us get some wins and bring a little bit of energy from being in the back and seeing the games the way I see them. For this [injury] to happen right now just shows I came back a little too quick, I think. But we're on the right track and I'm just going to keep moving forward."

As for the rest of the injured Bulls players, Marco Belinelli (ab strain) and Joakim Noah (plantar fasciitis) will not return Thursday. Thibodeau noted that Derrick Rose (knee) and Rip Hamilton's (lower back) status has not changed.

I tore my MCL in 2010. It sucked. I was told the whole time to be glad I didn't tear my ACL. Rose should get the same advice.

It's all about him being scared. He's too much of a pussy to come play right now. It's that simple. He's fine to play, and he's being a bitch about it for no reason. That's a problem to me.

Yeah, that's pretty much true. I am somewhat ambivalent about this whole Rose imbroglio. I suppose I'd care more if Rose's return vaulted the Bulls into championship territory. On the other hand, the Bulls' chances should not factor into Rose's decision, and he's already been cleared to play.

Let me play devil's advocate for the moment: Can we make analogy between Derrick Rose 2013 and Stephen Strasburg 2012? Is it valid in this case to prioritize an important player's career over the short-term goals of the team (notwithstanding arguments that say Rose, by playing, contributes to his healing process)?
