Maybe he wanted to double the African American population of Vancouver for one night.

It's an excuse to go to Vancouver, which is supposed to be a great place. Go, enjoy yourself and consider it a vacation with a free meal thrown in. I'd tear up the place if it didn't have an open bar.

Just act like you didn't get the invitation.

Then, if they call asking if you're coming, act all offended that you didn't get an invitation. When they say they sent you one, call them liars & hang-up, fake crying.

What's this "save the date" crap? never heard of that

got married 16 years ago. invitations went out 8 weeks before wedding. that is plenty of time. didn't have to give hall the final count until 4 days prior to wedding. had 145 people

-Didn't do the save the date thing.

-Sent out invites 7 weeks before wedding. We had only one person traveling and she knew about the date six months in advance.

- Had three people never receive their invites in the mail. One was my fault. Instead of putting 11256 I put 1256. Never got that one returned for wrong address which I thought was strange.

You old fool. Read the OP again. You've got your Vancouver's mixed up.
Unless you've heard lots of great things about a small city on the southern border of Washington and Oregon.

Well played.

Depends on whether you would really like to re-connect with the cousin or not and whether a trip to Canada to the wedding appeals to you or not. The fact that you are asking people tends to indicate that perhaps taking this trip is less than desireable, so I guess it probably hinges on your feelings about the cousin. It is a short notice.

I'd say any excuse to go to the Pacific Northwest, if you can swing it, is a good one...

...that being said, that is short notice. I don't care what wedding experts say...unless you had one of those save the date things from a while back, you don't send invitations out 6-8 weeks before and expect a good response.
