Another 1000 people lose their gigs.. Per Channel 2 News

Caribou coffee announces they are leaving Chicago
The Minneapolis-based chain says it’s closing most of its 18 Chicago area stores effective Sunday for business reasons.

A few locations will be converted to Peet’s Coffee and Tea shops.

The closings will affect about 1,000 workers.

Tim Hortons would own the fuck out of Starbucks if it existed in the Chicagoland area.

I agree. My only foray into Toronto, I went there everyday for coffee.

Tim Horton's is in Columbus. Why are they not here? We're more Canadian than Columbus.

Wendy's. Toledo actually has quite a few and as does Detroit/suburbs as you would expect.

Tim Horton's is about 1 mile away from me in Ohio and it is as amazing as you could imagine. Possibly the only good thing about living in Ohio.

Tim Horton's is looking to open 50 locations in the market. I've heard 44 are set already.

They're in Buffalo/upstate NY as well, of course. Tim Horton played for the Sabres, too!

That doesn't count. Buffalo is Canada.

Dunkin Donuts is better than Tim Hortons. Just go there.

Competition is a good thing.

Starbucks treats their employees very well.

Dunkin Donuts is the best

Dunkin is the best, hands down.

I'd rather McDonald's or Speedway coffee than Starbucks.

Thanks Starbucks!

ComEd has been terrorizing my neighborhood for the last several months...not sure what the hell they're doing
they've also left my back gate open(which leads out to 143rd st. and has no reason at all to be open) several times without notifying me at all

Western Michigan, too. When we go visit the fiance's hometown, there isn't even a Dunkin Donuts...but there are 2 Tim Hortons within a 5 minute or so drive.

IMHO, Dunkin coffee is better. Horton's has better quality donuts, but they're small and a little overpriced. Still good, though.

Can't speak for coffee, I don't drink it, but Dunkin Donuts has the worst donuts. They always seem stale, the dough itself is kind of sugary and hard, and they make me feel gross after I eat them. More than donuts usually do! I hate you, Dunkin.

Agree with Boyd. Dunkin's donuts are above average, but not great. Timbits are phenomonal.

I go to a Caribou coffee a few times a week. I enjoy their breakfast sandwiches. This is sad news.

Dunkin coffee > McDonalds Coffee > Caribou Coffee >>> Starbucks...

wife loves Caribou. They up and left DeKalb two weeks ago because of "a disagreement on rent". Probably a pre-emptive thing if Chicago is going too. I personally liked their food, I'm not a coffee drinker.

Well if Hortons does come to Chicago I hope they do not do a Krispy Creams and get people hooked then run away. Fuck I like Caribou
