My only board allegiance group here is humping ship...

I gotta agree. This hasn't been fun. Just bad. Goodbye Team Bernstein. It was a nice run.

I am happy to see the board finally coming to a consensus on this show. The Penn State mini series killed it for me, and I havent gone back since.

Great typo.

It really was. Getting into this show really changed the way I think about sports, radio, humor, lots of things. But that was almost seven years ago. The world has changed around me, I've changed, and the show has changed. The pieces just don't fit together anymore. I post here because I like the people here, but I'm going weeks without listening to the Score now, and I'm fine with it.

While I think that caller would have been better served to question the ass kissing these two have been laying on Jerry Reinsdorf and why Dan is so concerned with Derrick Rose coming back and subjecting his body to the rigors of playoff basketball, rather than next year's meaningless regular season, I think we need more callers like this. When Dan blows up like that he sounds far far stupider than the caller because it's not worth getting that worked up over an idiot.

If people can troll Dan as hard as he trolls his audience and he bursts a blood vessel like that time he fielded that Dmitri Young caller from a few years ago, maybe the show can exploded back into goodness.

Wow, they defend Theo to an insane level

You're coming at me Boilermaker Rick?

Bernstein talking about no free agents in the future is pretty good. Preemptive defense there.

Ian Stewart doesn't matter!!!

The defense of no pitching is they are aware of the problem and planning to fix it. That's terrific!

Pretty sure Paxson knows they need another superstar....so The Bulls are fine

Unlike every other GM, Theo and Jed, THEY, THEY, THEY, THEY know everything that is happening and think they are doing the right thing.

Saying 'I like Theo's plan' results in having to defend yourself for 7 pages. I'd love to listen/read B&B defend themselves for the insane slurpage.

Today was a prime example of Bernstein ruining the fun of Terry Boers. Terry made the perfectly valid point that you're a numbnuts if you're a season ticket holder bitching about the price of tickets going up because no one's pointing a gun at you to renew your season tickets. And he did it with the charming misanthropy Chicago has enjoyed for decades. Then Dan shit on the parade by telling people to "Make More Money"

Also, Dan's full of shit on Edwin Jackson. How the fuck do you need to pay $13 Million a year to eat innings? The Cubs had a lot of bums eating a lot of innings last season after the trade deadline and Garza's injury.

I still have confidence in Theo and think they are moving in the right direction but Bernstein treats it like to question them is insulting.

It's better this year, mostly because of my work uncovering things, but that's how most Cubs fans on this board were last year. They all hated on jimmypasta for his thoughts. Now, jimmypasta looks like a genius.

The bernstein approach to Epstein is that "he thinks he is drafting the right players". As if every other GM doesn't think exactly the same thing.

No, that's not true at all.

No one on this board has ever been close to the level Bernstein was at.

There is a difference in disagreeing with trolling Sox fans saying that Theo is a horrible GM who got lucky twice in Boston and doing what BeerStain did yesterday

Im exaggerating a bit, but that sentiment has been expressed.

When you detail only his bad FA signings and say his WS teams were ready made and Ortiz and Ramirez were already there (not true) I dont know what other conclusion one could draw.

You've been on my channel. The segments about childhood TV shows, barber shops, class field trips, and other offbeat stuff like that were a fun part of the show that just doesn't exist anymore. THAT is what I'm referring to when I say that the show has gotten worse in Goff's absence. The show is pretty much no fun and 100% preaching from the soapbox. Goff added a balance to the show that simply doesn't exist anymore. We may have to agree to disagree on this one.

Theo is a horrible GM who got lucky in Boston. I'll be the troll to carry that quote. Hell, I'll be correct at least for another couple of years and after that I may be teets up in the ground. Would you come to my gravesite, bryan? Pour a little out for me.

I am really just a 5 oclock hour listener unless it is knock off basketball shirt running season (started this week, by the way). I missed the call. I did hear the dismissal of Edwin Jackson. I think B and B have it incorrect. Signing him to four years means that they do view him as a piece "when they are good". I think they know the pitching is further away than the hitters, so they will be signing a guy each year over the next few to assemble a veteran staff for when the young hitters arrive.

I think Goff was great when he was used for levity, change of pace and keeping the boys "in line." It was a solid arrangement.

As time went on he received more and more airtime and became part of the problem, as the show descended into the 9th Level of Radio Hell (As described in Dahl's Inferno) he was right there with them, for the most part, at least. It happens, when a show and the crew do there thing for 10 years or so you will see a change and decline more often than not. I'm not sure if it was due to him wanting to get some more "edge" or experiment with a different personality on air or he suffered from being in the B&B Bubble and succumbed to their shtick, I don't know. But it happened.

Goff's decision to make the move to Atlanta was the best thing he could have done. I always loved listening to him on Saturday mornings and such.

In order to be competitive by 2015, each of those prospects is going to have to have a straight line progression to MLB and then be immediately productive without any rookie learning curve or sophmore slumps AND the Cubs will have to be big players in the FA pitching market in 2014-15. That is a pretty tall order. I would find it depressing if I were a Cub fan.

If anyone was like me and switched to AM1000 when the De Paul basketball expert show came on, Hood and Dickerson had a really even and well rounded discussion of the topic. Hood said if the Cubs are going to overtly conceed the next two years, he won't be talking about them. Dickerson preached patience.

I would have no problem if B and B were broken up and replaced with Hood and JD.

Goff's interjections were more amusing than Matt's but that's not saying much. And he didn't always reinforce a Beerstain point like Matt has been doing too much of lately (in the most insufferable manner ever conceived of by a functioning primate).

I do enjoy their new producer. New drops, opens, and different songs.

I dont think thats true. They dont ALL have to produce right away.

If ALL of them have rookie struggles at once that will be a problem. We'll see.

I expect these guys to get their feet wet in 2014 and be ready to contribute in 2015

I agree with all of this. Terry of course used to be able to bring that lightheartedness as well but is so passive at this point that such moments are even fewer and farther between, and as a result, the tone of the show has gotten much worse IMO.
