I just think it's upsetting to think that one of your favorite players is a selfish vagina. Bernstein's stance is no different from that of a lot of Bulls fans right now.

Do you think he's being selfish? Or is he just cautious? In a season bernstein admits doesn't matter. The guy has never done anything that would be considered less than exemplary as a teammate. I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt, don't you?

Really asking.
Well, if it's indeed necessary for Rose to play in games to get himself back to 100%, then there's no sense in putting it off till November, which effectively adds six or seven months to his rehabilitation.

I don't really know anything about sports medicine, but it just seems to me that throwing Rose out there for five games isn't going to make a ton of difference. He's going to have a long and arduous summer of rehab anyway. I have trouble believing that his rehab will just magically be completed (whatever that means) once he hits a certain threshold of minutes.

As much as we want to see Derrick Rose back on the floor and resume his NBA career, I think it'll take time for Rose to resemble the guy who became the NBA MVP. That will NOT be right now.

I expect a great deal of rust and Rose struggling at the outset when he does get back to work. I think the part that everyone's not talking about is whether Rose has to adjust his game to avoid all that contact like he did before tearing his ACL.

I just think it's ego. He doesn't want to look like anything other than the MVP caliber player of 2011.

Right. If this year doesn't matter, why the rush to come back? His knee isn't going to bust if he waits. It's not like he's planning on retiring. He'll play again. It'll happen. Why is dan so tense about it unless he has some other agenda?

I agree with this. I respect those who are pissed about Rose's equivocations, but I think this whole fiasco is overblown. If the Bulls were in the race, I'd feel differently, but Rose or no Rose will do nothing to change this season's conclusion.

I think Bernstein's whole point is less about the Bulls and more about Rose blasphemously ignoring the counsel of his doctors. Bernstein doesn't think Rose understands that playing now, with discomfort, is part of the rehab process.

Not that it matters, but we interrupt this Derrick Rose talk to inform that the Brewers/Cubs game at Wrigley has been rained out. No make up date announced. Back to you.

This is what I was trying to say in my previous posts. I understand Dan's position that the final step in Rose's recovery requires that he play in actual basketball games. What I don't understand is why those basketball games have to be this season's playoff games.

Dan's position has always been that players who may have taken some nights off or dogged it during the regular season play harder and more physically when the playoffs start. So if this season doesn't matter, why have Rose's final step in rehabbing his injury begin at a time when everyone else is gearing up to play harder than they have all season? Why not just have him continue to play in practice and play in summer league games and start the 2013-2014 season fresh?

Dan's constant harping on the money that the Bulls stand to lose on ticket sales if Rose decides not to play this year is also troubling. Do the Bulls get out of the second round? Probably not. So what is that 6 or 7 home playoff games? Why take those short term gains vs. the risk of losing out on the far more lucrative long term one?

They might not get out of the first round, regardless if Derrick suits up. This B*U*L*L*S team is so banged up, they might not last long when the NBA Playoffs do tip in about 10 days from now.
