That was circa 1972, and back then, a handful of guest stars loaned their voices in 2 part episodes called "The New Scooby-Doo Movies". Jonathan Winters was one of them, along with the late, great Don Knotts and Don Adams, country star Jerry Reed, along with the Harlem Globetrotters & the still alive Dick Van Dyke helping those kids solve a handful of mysteries back then. Boomerang, DIRECTV 298, airs these classic "Scooby-Doo Movies" all the time.

I'm not kidding.

That was near the end of "Mork & Mindy's" run on ABC in Season #4 when Jonathan Winters joined the cast. "Mork & Mindy" originally ran from 1978-1982, but Winters' addition was one of the changes ABC bosses wanted when they renewed the sitcom for a 4th & final season.

Are these the same ABC bosses that don't want San Antonio in the finals?

Really enjoyed him as a kid. Gave dad and I something to both laugh at. His visits to the loony bin always had me laughing thinking he was cracking himself up too.

He was in a little movie called "The Longshot" with Harvey Korman. Jonathon was only onscreen for 5 minutes playing a tow truck driver trying to fix a flat. I remember laughing so hard it hurt. The way he would change expresssions on his face was priceless.

We had a record of his and one of the bits was him working at I believe Smiley's Super Service Station. He goes through a bit of helping some woman that pulled into the full service lane. Absolutely hilarious. He worked very well on record/radio or whatever because his added sound effects were priceless.

I do agree that his use of facial expressions were also awesome.

I always thought Robin Williams was a poor version of Winters. He talked real fast and moved around real fast but the funny words coming out of his mouth were slow to come.

Like so many back in the day, Jonathan Winters once guest starred in an episode of "The Twilight Zone". Tonight's episode, "A Game of Pool", which also stars the late, great Jack Klugman from 1961, airs this eve at 10P on WWME 23 and stations along the MeTV Network. That's according to MeTV's Facebook page.

Wow? He was 87 SHARK. We're you that shocked? I said wow because I thought he died years ago.
