I've been wondering about that too. Pretty much every high profile thwarting of an attempted terrorist attack on US soil since
9/11 has been an FBI-carrying-over-their-drug-war-tactics sting operation.

From the Sears Tower plot to the Clark and Addison backpack "bomber":

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01764.html

maybe the FBI lost track of one of their marks.

Not likely, but, still, I'd rather the FBI be out pursuing actual terror suspects rather than justifying their budget by racking
up bogus busts against patsy perps who could hardly figure out to drive to Indiana to buy M-80s.

I know a few of the plots have been stopped but I'm surprised something like this didn't happen sooner.

Yep.

Get your mark, get to be his confidant, rile him and/or the group up, provide them with explosives and hatch "The Plan."

One of the most recent sting ops was the when the FBI launched their master plan and arrested that kid with a 90 IQ.

Sometimes they bombs don't go off and sometimes they go boom. Makes you wonder how many bombs in the U.S. that went boom were because the FBI lost control of a sting operation? Also makes me wonder how many of those people arrested in the sting operations would have actually gone ahead and planted a bomb somewhere if the FBI wasn't involved with them.

I can't wait for the day that people realize that not only The Internet and Tweeter are unreliable sources of information, but that ALL media is bias, opinion, and conjecture... ... Stop taking things so seriously! ...... this is why we have Freedom of Speech.... ... because NOBODY is right... and only by talking things through, we can come to a more accurate conclusion of reality.

There has been a lot of FBI chatter on the Boston PD scanner feed, as in, turn the witnesses over to the FBI for questioning/de-briefing. They are herding all witnesses into sequestered locations, same thing they did after Benghazi.

Also, news report after news report is claiming the FBI had no prior indication of this potential attack--how can they put that out there within 2 hours of the actual event?

And the scanner talk seems to be taking account of folks not familiar with Boston--"Revere, which is on the other side of Boston...is that a possibility for you guys?"

I doubt this is the case, but it might account for a lot the peculiarities of the situation.

I doubt it was the US Government, but if it were a terrorist attack, by actual terrorists, why not conduct it during the time the first runners were crossing the finish line, when the most media were there, when the most people were there. This thing was winding down when the bombs went off... almost like they didn't want to inflict maximum damage.
What sense does that make?

This is the thing that doesn't make sense to me. If you are trying to maximize the casualties you would think this would be the thinking. Instead they waited over 2 hours to set them off. My guess is they were planted well after the first runners crossed the finish line.

Sounds like they may have lost track of the bombers and were trying to find the devices without scaring everyone. I know you can't just yell bomb but there has to be a more effective way to keep people safe than hoping the police or dogs find the explosives before they go off.

Well, the FBI could start with not providing encouragement, training and material to said perpetrators.

There are some lines that just shouldn't be crossed today. Especially the finish line.

That too. I'm not sure if that is the only way to arrest these people though. Very dangerous. In NY the car bomb DIDN'T go off but it would have been really bad if it did.

I'm a conspiracy theorist and seeing those numbers only adds fire to the flame. If I put my crazy hat on I would swear the blast was more about propaganda than fatalities.

There's a few things that smell funny about this whole thing.

It definitely stinks on top of being a terrible tragedy.

I posted about abovetopsecret a few years ago. There is a lot of noise but I wouldn't dismiss everything posted there. That's very lazy. Some of the things posted there are very plausible.

They both are kinda out there but can be good starting points to investigate and inform yourself about things you will not see on the 10pm news or in your newspaper

They probably wanted to and the "assistance" only helped.
