That's the thing, though, Nas. I'm sure plenty of people want to "do things" but it would seem much of that is just thoughts and empty words.

When the FBI gets involved it would seem they do a bang up job training, assisting, providing, planning and encouraging those thoughts and words into actual bombs that kill people. How many people have the FBI turned into terrorists?

That's a hell of a risk.

Latest from NY Post:

BOSTON — More than 130 people were injured today as multiple explosions rocked the Boston Marathon in a "coordinated" terror attack.

Two explosions were detonated at the race's finish line within seconds of each other, beginning at 2:50 p.m. Three other undetonated devices were later discovered by authorities. A federal law enforcement source told The Post there are at least 12 dead and at least 132 people have been treated at seven area hospitals.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to The Post that authorities have a identified a suspect, a Saudi national, who is currently being guarded in a Boston hospital with shrapnel wounds.

CBS reported that an individual is in custody. He is reportedly cooperative and denies involvement in the attack.

I know that this was a terrible thing but all the Facebook posts are lamenting that you can't go to the movies or run races anymore... How many movies and races go off without a hitch all year long??? If something like this stops you from running a race then I feel bad for you...

Former Patriots player Joe Andruzzi carries survivor away from Boston Marathon bombing.

Joe Andruzzi played for the New England Patriots from 2000 through 2004, and in the NFL from 1997 through 2006. He was an undrafted guard out of Southern Connecticut State, and his NFL career was cut short when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins' lymphoma. Andruzzi won three Super Bowls and an Ed Block Courage award during his time as a football player, but his most notable and admirable challenges were yet to come.

After football, he formed the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, which provides financial assistance to cancer patients. Andruzzi's foundation is also heavily involved in the Boston Marathon through the John Hancock Non-Profit Marathon Foundation, which put Andruzzi squarely in the middle of the bombing that happened on Monday afternoon. At this time, three are reported dead and over 130 injured.

And as you would expect from a man whose three brothers were all first responders as New York City firefighters during the 9/11 tragedy, Andruzzi flew into action by helping those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing. As you can see in the picture above, he was involved in carrying those who needed help away from the scene so that they could receive medical attention. You can see a brief video of Andruzzi coming to the woman's aid here. She's clearly injured and is struggling to right herself, those around here are calling for help, and Andruzzi rushes to the rescue.

I agree. You're many times more likely to die in a car accident than you are to die because of a terrorist attack. I understand what they're saying but you can't prevent everything from happening.

I don't know all the details of what they do or don't do but there has to be a better way IF they are responsible in anyway for this attack. By being responsible I mean they lost track of terrorists.

That'll teach that fucking Suze Orman to run marathons.

From what I understand, after 9/11, the DOJ reallocated resources from drug interdiction to anti-terrorism. Those "resources" appear to have simply taken their model for waging their hugely successful war on drugs and applied to terrorism:

1. Find folks on the periphery of the drug/terrorism scene;
2. Have an undercover buddy up to this stool pigeon and encourage the mark to up their game and do bigger deals/big terrorist acts;
3. Provide all the necessary materials/etc for the stool pigeon to do what they think they are going to do;
4. Have the stool pigeon be at a certain place/time with the illegal cargo (drugs or bombs)'
5. Bust.

Repeat.

This is also a DOJ who apparently sold automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels...tho that program and the anti-terror SOP were already in existence under Dubya.

On a day where someone or some group made an awful difference, while Medical professionals, volunteers, Police Officers and Emergency Personnel made a decidedly positive difference I find this quote worthy of consideration:

"What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."

It's a good phrase...however, I tend to find these types of things ring hollow when those that post them via message boards and social media don't follow the "advice or message" in a positive fashion.

Well, I know what will stop this from happening in the future. Body scanning all runners before they begin the race.

You know what stop the Bush bashing and blaming.
If these programs where so wrong,and most of them are. ie Drone Strikes,Fast and Furious and gitmo for examples. They where so bad when Bush was doing them is all we here from the left and the President then why the fuck did they not only continue them but expand them. Leave Bush out of it and let Obama own his own mistakes and failures for once. Fucking guy never takes the blame for anything he has done. Perfect example of an epic fail under his administration is the Littoral Combat Ship our Navy is building.

Tom Brokaw, a "journalist", had this to say yesterday while speaking with Brian Williams....

http://www.nbcnews.com/video/nbc-news/51552278/#51552278

Brokaw - "...beginning tomorrow, early, there will be security considerations all across the country. However exhausted we may be by them, we're going to have to live with and get along and go forward and not let them bring us to our knees. You remember all of the outrage over the security at the DNC last year..."

Brian Williams - "....how are we ever going to protect public events?!"

So Tom Brokaw is now getting on live TV after this tragedy and telling the American people to simply bend over and take whatever the government is going to do to us and simply accept it. Instead of, "We can't let this event make us think that we need to surrender any more of our liberties, start any more wars or turn this nation into any more of a security state...." we get, "The govt. will do whatever it wants, don't complain, just take it because it's what's best for you...." This is a supposed and respected member of what used to be the 4th Estate.

Good to see that being pushed. I wonder what new, exciting and expensive security machines and techniques will be implemented now and what liberties and former constitutionally guaranteed rights will be chipped away at.

Lots of money to be made here, I'm sure the DHS/FBI/ATF etc. will be pouring Blue Label when they have their budgets expanded. I'm sure certain security contractors and manufacturers will be doing the same. I would guess that the sequester will somehow be blamed as well. The narratives that can be pushed are plenty....tax day, Patriot Day, int. terrorism, Middle East, gun control, domestic terrorism....and the list goes on. To really make put the screws down and move forward the govt. will probably shift the focus to "Domestic Terrorism" sooner rather than later.

This was simply masterful timing by all involved.

A mix of both.

Let us just say that I wouldn't be shocked if this was an FBI operation that didn't quite go as planned and they were supposed to catch their marks and defuse the bombs before the 2 exploded. We get the same outcome with laws/new security/new narrative/distraction but with none of the death. Following the 2 explosions the FBI and local authorities (who just happened to be on a fully deployed training exercise designed for this sort of thing) found the rest of the devices? That was pretty quick even with CCTV and such.

University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach, who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when a series of explosions went off, said he thought it was odd there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines.

"They kept making announcements to the participants do not worry, it's just a training exercise," Coach Ali Stevenson told Local 15.

Stevenson said he saw law enforcement spotters on the roofs at the start of the race. He's been in plenty of marathons in Chicago, D.C., Chicago, London and other major metropolitan areas but has never seen that level of security before.

"Evidently, I don't believe they were just having a training exercise," Stevenson said. "I think they must have had some sort of threat or suspicion called in."

CNN reports a state government official said there were no credible threats before the race.

Stevenson had just finished the marathon before the explosions. Stevenson said his wife had been sitting in one of the seating sections where an explosion went off, but thankfully she left her seat and was walking to meet up with him.

"We are just so thankful right now," Stevenson said.

Fear not, citizen! The federal government has everything under your control and whatever happens next is for your own good.

I'm sure the our hard hitting media will exhaust its resources getting to the bottom of this and ask all the tough questions.

FBI Agent in charge says there were sweeps early yesterday morning and one hour before the race and found nothing.

But it is an open course so people can come and go.
