No. I don't go for the easy joke.

Now you are just playing with me.

Is this CFSMB Shadow Board "Goof on dolphin Day"?

How many Steve, Chas, or whatever else, jokes do I do? Zero. I put more thought into my stuff than that.

That still doesn't mean you never take an easy joke and make it. We all do here. Even SHARK every so often does!

I laughed at many MAN SHE WAS OLD jokes when my Grandma died. She was closer to me than my mom.

I dont know if that qualifies as over the line, but she would have definitely laughed at them, so I did too.

Im unsure on this whole thing.

Way different.

I'm assuming she wasn't murdered and you were left looking for answers.

Do you think the family of the 8 year old boy would dig the jokes? Would it help them with the answers they need? Would it help them put things in perspective and laugh their way through it?

I wouldn't expect the families or anyone personally affected to me making jokes.

But for some of the other 99% of the people, joking is a way for them to process and deal with a horrible situation.

Well fuck we'll have to discuss what an "easy" joke is I guess.
My "Derry Air" joke... easy? Funny, probably not but what the fuck I'm not Louis CK or whatever his fuckin name is.

I don't know, Ivan. A family member of that kid might laugh at a joke. How many times to people try to make a joke during a eulogy to lighten the mood? I know I've laughed during a couple, and during the 2 I've given I've tried to make some lighthearted comments here and there.

It is crazy for someone to tell another person how they should respond to a situation like this. Just let people be and act as they need. If laughter works for you then have at it. If laughter does not work then ignore it. Seems pretty simple to me.

We appreciate the outpouring of well wishes and silly jokes during our time of mourning...

They wouldn't see them unless they went looking for them.

I doubt anyone is sending RFDC's posts to the parents of a victim from yesterday.

Not telling anyone how to behave. But you also can't be surprised if someone views one of these "comedians" as a complete dick for making a joke after the murder of their child.

I'm gonna go ahead and call the birth of the new meme of the year here today.
Happy birthday to the "Kid cairo doesn't like that easy joke" meme, the younger brother of the "Woodridge Ryan won't like that zinger" meme.
Welcome to the board, new meme. May you live a long and wonderful life.

No I am not surprised, nor do I care. That is my point. Each person has the right to determine their own response to situations.

You're kidding, right? Do you think we are unique here on this board.

Stuff like this happens all over the internet. Twitter alone is no doubt chalk full of people trying to impress everyone with their quick wit...

I would guess you were eulogizing someone that hadn't been blown apart.
So, in that regard it's about context...and I would guess you would be hard pressed to find a family member that was comfortable with making an "explosive" reference or "joke" while eulogizing this particular 8 year old boy.

Twitter was exceptionally unfortunate yesterday.

Why can't people just admit that they only do this because it isn't their child or family member that was killed or hurt?

That's what it is, really. And that's fine if that's what you want to do. But to act like you are trying to laugh your way through a tragedy like you are so much more enlightened than everyone else is silly. The jokes after the school shooting were terrible for me. I wasn't "offended" since my kids were fine.

I guess I would just hope people wouldn't find joy in my missery if something happened like this to me...

I was using RFDC's post as an example.

You think that the family of the 8 year old is checking Twitter to see what people are saying? I don't.

Who is saying they are more enlightened?

Exaggeration.

Why can't people just live and let live?

You don't like the humor. We get it. Why do you feel the need to convince others your viewpoint is the best?

Maybe.

Remember. "People deal with tragedy in different ways".

So the terrible jokes are ok as long as the people affected don't see them?

As I stated before. Nothing wrong with jokes.

But maybe some time should be given. Just seems in bad taste to try to beat everyone else to a joke right after something happens...

I wasn't directing anything at you personally, RFDC. Don't take offense.

I was speaking for myself. Everyone can do what they like. I was just commenting on how I would feel if it were me. That's all.
