Exactly.

Everybody here is subject to criticism. Not everything we do will be well-received by others. Y'all aren't taking the criticism well.

I feel differently

I laughed at many MAN SHE WAS OLD jokes when my Grandma died. She was closer to me than my mom.

I dont know if that qualifies as over the line, but she would have definitely laughed at them, so I did too.

Im unsure on this whole thing.

Way different.

I'm assuming she wasn't murdered and you were left looking for answers.

Do you think the family of the 8 year old boy would dig the jokes? Would it help them with the answers they need? Would it help them put things in perspective and laugh their way through it?

Maybe not. I dont think the jokes would matter to me at all if that happened.

And a certain part of me thinks If I say this joke to a guy in my office, nobody gets hurt.

I know that's a bit flawed. Just being honest here.

Ivan's attitudes toward privacy are more painful than jokes told in poor taste

Oh, God. Let it go...

I was speaking on my personal feeling about "big brother" reading my personal emails and listening to my personal phone conversations. As much as you'd love to turn it into something greater and make me "more dangerous than any bomber" it simply isn't there to be had.

I am strongly against the govornment getting in your business, good dolphin...

I could be wrong, but I tend to find that people who have lived through some serious shit tend to not use jokes as a tension breaker. That's just my personal experience and opinion. Criticize as you see fit.

I really had let it go. Do I not get a little leeway to overstate in a thread about inappropriate joking.

At first glance, I would agree.

But then I think about the whole stereotype of comedians being dark unhappy people.

Im not sure.

You were right to call your initial statement hyperbole. That's exactly what it was. Then you went full on Scorehead and made a silly statement about my threat level.

You jumped to a conclusion. You were wrong. It's ok...

I'm overstating as a goof.

No, I don't think you are dangerous.

Discuss: creativity can only result from adversity. If this is true, then humor can only spring from someone's pain. If we were to restrict humor from painfull situations, there would be no humor.

I'm not trying to over-aggrandize my own situation, but I would say in my own life I find the opposite to be true.

Like anything in life, our own perception of it is skewed to our own egos/bullshit/triggers/ situations. I find humor to have saved me from teetering over the edge on many occasions.

Remember it. I said it on purpose because I know it's not something I'm guilty of. So...yeah.

Now that this is debunked.....

You're actually proving my point for me Frank. Those are bad examples of "taking the easy joke", just like how you confused my running gags with puns the other day.

Or maybe if we outlaw humor, pain will cease to exist

Does it matter if they are bad or good? The fact is that you take the easy joke a lot more often than you care to admit.

gags = puns = memes. Call it whatever you want, but its the same tired stuff the board here.

There is a lot of Scoreheading going on in this thread.

For the record, I have never made claim to be more enlightened than anybody on anything. Except maybe Led-Zeppelin.

I hope I didn't come off as trying to tell somebody how to behave/feel in a time of tragedy. That wasn't my intention if I did.

I'm sure I've made ill timed jokes before. Probably will again down the road. I was just sharing my thoughts...

I get it, Ivan. You aren't necessarily right or wrong.

I made some very tasteless posts yesterday. I really don't care what anybody else thought about them. Rather than wallow in pity and think how scary it could be if something happened outside my office, I chose to laugh about it.

That doesn't make me right or wrong.

WE HAVE FOUND IT! KID CAIRO AND I AGREE!

You stated your opinion and clearly believe the humor is inappropriate even though you may do it yourself on occasion. No apologies.

Nope. Creativity fueled by the joy of creation gets you Harry Teinowitz, "she loves you ya, ya ya", and paintings of unicorns.
