Not necessarily. I think the point Brian made about people are subject matter experts in terms of the intricacies. There are plenty of examples in every life where I don't understand how something works but I can analyze that if it's helpful or not helpful tom e.

Then you are just assuming that they are correct because, here I'm going to do it, "really smart people" told you it is correct.

Without knowing the factors, it would seem impossible to determine a causation vs. correlation analysis.

That's fair. I can't put up an argument to that except to say that I feel it is something that the vast majority of people do.

Saber stats are very interesting to me and deserve to be a part of the analysis when discussing a player. This point does not belittle the value of old fashioned scouting.
