Terry's "two favorite words" will be on CSNC's "SportsTalk Live" this eve with David Kaplan and crew come 5P. You know the one.

Don't threaten us SHARK

I'm not threatening, Phil. A certain evening host who returns to his regular time slot of 6P Friday, albeit for 35 minutes in advance of Chris Rongey's White Sox Radio Network pregame for Twins/White Sox. The SCORE guy who hates being called Larry...He's on "SportsTalk Live" on CSNC this eve.

Hey SHARK, do you feel that Champaign-Urbana can be considered "Hardcore American South"?

Far less.

I discovered that when I went away to college. My first experience with Chicagoans. All they talked about was Chicago. Guess what? Don't give a shit. It's still a running joke to this day. Some girl at our apartment kept going on and on about how much more expensive things were in Chicago. I jokingly said "Yeah, I heard Kool-Aid packets are $5 each." She agreed.

I've had this discussion here before. If you went to U of I, you ran into the suburban group in need of displaying their urban cred to the more rural students by talking about Chicago. Meanwhile, when they are back in their suburbs, they wonder why anyone would want to live in Chicago.

As for me, I had to do battle with Philadelphians when I first got to school who were filled with Buddy bravado. It was a glorious Monday night when the Bears stomped the Eagles. I remember one big talker locking his dorm door rather than take the ridicule he had earned.

That's because we're a World Class City.
Ive heard the World Class description more from visitors than Chicagoans.
Really? It seems to me a lot of Chicagoans have what I'd call "Second City Syndrome". That's where that whole overriding desire to be "World Class" comes from. Look, we're the capital of the flyover states. That's not such a bad thing to be.
It's a little different than just the capitol of the fly over states because of the international business centered around here. I would rank it as an international city. World Class is probably reserved for Lonon, Paris, Rome, New York etc., but Chicago can rank up there with say Barcelona, Berlin, Amsterdam, etc.

I don't know about "world class" but I have been around a little on this globe and I am pretty happy for the most part with Chicago. For the record the best city I have been to is Zurich. I suppose NYC is special too.

I live 3 miles south of I-80 and it's close enough to Deliverance here. Ive been 5-6 hours south. It's not pretty. Poverty and prisons. I'd like to have a carport construction business down there though. Cairo and Mound City might as well be the two most backwater fuck towns in Arkansas.

Mike Thomas joins the ranks of Really Smart People. Dan acts like the U of I was controlled by a neo-Jim Crow cabal. Like the average rube who shops at Market Square Mall is controlling the marketing of the athletics department.
