Captain Curt's 8210 S. Cottage Grove

I had Captain Curt's for the first time in about 5 years since I moved from South Shore....not as good as I remembered.

I also had Honky Tonk a few weeks ago, and it was ok, but not great. Biggie may ban me for a week for my next statement, but I'd argue that Famous Dave's bbq ranks high.

There's a place called Ben's Bar Be Cue on North Ave and Austin that's received some nice reviews, so maybe I'll check them out this weekend and report back.

They are right on Smoke Daddy. That's a pretty sweet spot.

Not to bust your chops but, I've never known anyone around the South side :P to consider Captain Curt's as good/great. Average at best. It used to be as good or better than most of the crap you get on the North & NW side now, but that's not saying much.

As for Famous Dave's, I've only had it @ the CWS in Omaha. It surprisingly was pretty solid, damned good for ballpark food.

--- and C. Howitt, Barbara Ann's is back open.

You're right, maybe it's the fact that he markets himself so well, with the 1000's of pictures of himself in a superman cape hanging around the restaurant.

Always liked The Pit in Hickory Hills. Even like Carson's back in the day.

Smoke Daddy was good before it was "cool" to have BBQ.

"Cool" to have BBQ. Unfortunately, the new trend of the Bernstein-ization of BBQ soon followed.

It's true.

BBQ, Craft beer, smoking your own meat, wearing green corduroy pants, mustaches, and growing a beard are all like "cool" now and stuff.
