It is going to be COLD....35 at game time predicted, going down to 27! I would cancel the Sat game v Minn too

Yesterdays LOW Temp , per Accuweather was 33!

OK gotta go to coach a little league game, because they play in these frigid conditions

I know parents of kids just above tball that have 3 or 4 games in already. Nothing says spring like seven year olds in parkas and black rubber boots with a baseball glove on one hand and a miitten on the other. Their season will be long over by the time we hit 80 degrees.

I don't understand this thread. Has there been another Sox game cancelled or something?

The temp was 8 degrees warmer today than it was Friday when the Chairman declared it too cold to play baseball. Yet, little league teams played in the same weather.

How about just saying "We don't expect anyone to come to the park and even with the state paying for almost everything I could think of, we still have to pay the employees and the cost of the food prepared, which will not be covered by the 1200 so called fans that would be such idiots to come out, so for that reason I am cancelling the game."

Fact is Jerry has had quite a history of cancelling games for what they expect to be inclimate conditions and very rarely are they correct. Of course , my favorite was the game cancelled at about 3 PM on the night of a Bulls playoff game. It didnt rain that night either!

His hope is to play another game in the future and make up some revenues or at the very least not to lose revenues.

If Baseball had a real commissioner and not Jerrys stooge, this kind of stuff might not happen so often.

Families start to bail on little league the minute schools get out for the year, especially in the younger years. You have to get the games in early or you end up playing 7 on 7.

How dare he cancel a game when it rained for twelve straight hours. What kind of bullshit is that?

The Sox are playing poorly (5th worst record in baseball currently-a game ahead of the Cubs) , the weather is cold and kids are still in school, so attendance is awful. Putting the game off and playing it when the weather is warmer, kids may be out of school and the team MAY be playing better....makes financial sense.

You know what doesn't make financial sense? Saying that $2 is greater than $5 which you did a couple weeks ago.

Quite stupid.

Not doing anything today? 20,000 tickets to be given away for free to todays Indian tilt. All you have to do is show up at the box office.

Pretty cool gesture.

Makes sense....they still make money on concessions and parking of the 20,000. That's IF they get that many to show up even for free tickets. Smart move.

Not to go SHARK on anyone, but it's been announced as "WGN Weather Day with Tom Skilling" sponsored by the aforementioned WGN.

Is that true?

I thought I heard Mac suggest that very idea this morning.

I'm not sure, i just got bounced around a few extensions, finally wound up with Bartosch(?)..
He says the White Sox aren't doing anything like that, possibly the Score is?

and possibly McNeil is being flippant or a producer is messing with him..

Speigs said the Sox are being inundated with calls wondering if they are giving away 20,000 tickets.

Mac is aghast that people took that from his suggestion.

With a sizable summer storm bearing down on the Midwest, Wednesday's rubber match between the Blue Jays and White Sox on the south side of Chicago was postponed nearly six hours before first pitch.

A makeup date and time will be announced at a later date.

Wednesday's postponement marks the fourth this season at U.S. Cellular Field, the most since the White Sox had five such occurrences in 2008.

Toronto and Chicago split the first two contests of the three-game set. Aside from the eventual makeup, the teams aren't scheduled to meet again this season. They split a four-game series in Toronto in April.

The Blue Jays, winners of four of six games, travel to Texas for a four-game set with the Rangers beginning Thursday. The White Sox open a four-game series in Houston on Friday.

Nobody was gonna watch it on tv, much less go to the park to watch it anyway. With the Blackhawks game starting at almost the same time the game would have been a rumor ,other than a few people switching over between periods to check out the score.

Yeah, I gotta believe Reinsdorf is happy the weather gives him an excuse to postpone.
