Good Lord.

I'm old. How many freakin' years do I have to see the season be over after 20 games?

Fuck you and your plan.

Cheap lottery tickets pay off 1 out of 4 times.

here's the question...if Theo and Jed are SO good at identifying market inequalities, why didn't the find a few one or two year cheap veterans that no one else saw having a career year? Why couldn't they look at Raul Ibanez and say "we know his 2013's going to be incredible, and we can sign him on the cheap. Let's eat Soriano's contract and sign him and at least be .500"? Etc

Raul Ibanez used as an example. City of Fools is not intimating he thinks Raul Ibanez could have had a career year in 2013.

That's actually quite funny. My only exception would be that Theo loathed the original, awful back page picture.

I've been watching since 1975 and I'm trying to think of the years that held much of any interest past May -

1977
1984
1985
1989
1998
2003
2004
2007
2008

So, about 9 of 37 years. Just like a cheap lottery ticket.

I'm really glad I missed the rest of the game. For a guy like you to be this fired up, I probably would have thrown something in the wrong direction.

I had Larry Walker giving me shit in the RF bleachers for that 0-11 start at the time.

Had to take his glove off to show all the losses.

Bastard. I have real problems. I don't need this.

WHERE ARE THE REALLY SMART PEOPLE?!?!!??

Plan camp can stay open in my book. But I'm more than down with bitching about how tuuurrible the Cubs have been. SMARTER RADIO GUYS get their panties in a bunch and its funny to listen to.

I'm pretty confident the Cubs are some kicked dirt and a thrown 3rd base away from ripping off 7 straight.

Don't worry you guys, it can only get better. Right?

Yup, I'm pretty psyched the Cubs are building the bridge over Clark. Waiting for signals at intersections is for suckers

He's washing Kevin Orie's car is what he's doing.

Hot. Let's create a VHS recording of washed out, see what I did there, Cubs prospects washing cars. The Iowa Grandma crowd will be begging to hand us their money.

No,People are just coming to their senses now.
Once again, nothing wrong with a rebuild but signing some credible vets to fill some gaping holes for 1-2 year contracts does not hamper rebuilding.
That is all I've been preaching on here since last year. Don't ask me who they should sign,Theo knows who he bypassed.
Cub holes going into 2013:
2nd,3rd,cf,rf-Would have been nice to find credible bats. (Shuerholtz/Hairston might work out )

I'm kind of surprised the bullpen sucks. Marmol did save 15 in a row and was
decent after the allstar break. Camp has disappointed so far,Russell still solid.

Again, DeJesus is the definition of the "credible vet" you've been calling for. So, as you can see, the Cubs would still suck ass if they filled those spots with those kind of guys.

Doctor Meatball...Finally, the Cubs are rebuilding the right way. Their strategy for the previous 100+ years never worked. You gotta give Theo and Jed a few years.

Isn't the strategey to make the playoffs,so you can get to a World Series?
Hendry had them in the playoffs every few years. One year they should have made it besides that (choke under Baker-regular season). The playoffs are crap shoots which the Cubs failed miserably but at least they got there.

My philosophy-It is never acceptable to lose,I don't care about the circumstances.

The plan is a good one. They have Rizzo, castro and Barney in place, with Almora, Baez and Soler being the next wave of players that may take on prominent roles in the near future. They have the overall #2 pick in this years draft and should get an outstanding players there. The only screwup so far was the signing of Edwin jackson. Too many years and too much money for a mediocre pitcher. Villanueva was an outstanding signing, who may bring a real good prospect at the trade deadline. Baker and garza may also bring some good prospects if they can get into the rotation soon and prove both healthy and productive. this is gonna take a couple more years. One needs patience, but this is the right approach.
