I bought the Odyssey Versa White with black 1w and had the super stroke thin (mid size) grip put on it. Went with the black and white grip since it matches the putter face.

Can't wait to try it out. Looks like Sunday might not be too bad.

I checked out their website and they have really expanded their line. Like I mentioned I think the only
option when I put one on was the large size and dull gray color. All really hard molded plastic too. I
hope you like it. I have essentially been trying to achieve something similar with a softer feel using
the tennis wrap and over the course of a few rounds your hands sort of lightly meld into the grip which
is nice. Hoping to play Sunday as well if it ever stops raining.

I hope it stops raining too, but part of me hopes it rains a lot this month cause I know it will only benefit the courses and get things growing...especially after last summer's drought.

I didn't play my first round last year till July 3 because of my back surgery so I can't really complain too much if I only get out a couple times in April. More than playing a round I really want some good weather so I can hit up the short game practice area a few times this month. I think that is more important for me right now than playing actual rounds. Gotta get that 20 yards and in game dialed in!

I can't argue with you about the rain but it could let up a little bit for this weekend at least. I looked back at last
year and I had 4 rounds in by April 14th last year. Still not sure if I am going to get a county membership or travel
around and play different places. I think I would spend less money with the membership but playing different places
sounds like a lot more fun.

I have high hopes to play next weekend as well. I played two weekends ago in a scramble format and was really
rusty after not touching a club in 8 months. I have a scramble tournament in two weeks and need to work things
out.

Walked 18 on Saturday. Course was soggy as expected, but actually overall in very very good shape. Shot even 90. Drives and irons were so so. Either I hit them great, or barely at all. Chipping and the flat stick though was probably the best I've ever played. Saved at least 10 strokes on and around the green. It was great to see some really good 2 putts and about half a dozen chips that ended up 8-10' from the hole.

Got out for some twillight golf at a nice public course in the far north burbs called Shepherds Crook
last night. $25 with a cart and we teed off around 3:45. My buddy had the brilliant idea of asking if we could
tee off the back instead of behind some groups on the front. Guy gave us the ok and we were off. No one in
front of us all night. There were 3 of us and we played a scramble to practice for our upcoming tournament.
It was cart path only so one guy would drive the cart and the other two would jog or walk to the ball, have
the cart guy bring the clubs and play that way. It worked out well and we finished 18 in 3-1/2 hours just
as the sun was coming down. Hit driver very well, irons were spotty but coming around. My early season achilles
heel the last few years has been the short game. It is almost like I have the chipping yips, either blading them
or chili dipping a majority. I just need to practice for 30-40 minutes at the park and get my rhythmn down
with all that. Course, while wet in spots was in pretty good condition. A nice track for a reasonable price
if you are in the Gurnee/Zion area ever. Only downside for some is that it is built right next to a dump so
depending on wind conditions you are going to catch some of that, but it isn't too objectionable.

Played at Bridges of Poplar Creek today. Shot a 86, was happy with that considering I didn't play that well and started the day out with a quadruple bogey and later had back to back doubles. Parred 8 holes. Round was real slow, 5 hours, they definitely overbook that place. I won't be going back.

1st time out tomorrow morning. 714 AM tee time. New 3 wood and a couple new hybrids will be seeing their 1st game action. And will be on Ebay by 7 PM tomorrow night.

Playing for the 3rd time tomorrow (played twice in Zona). 8:50am tee time. Looking for a better performance.

April's almost over and I've yet to play a round.

No AZ/FL in the off-season, either. No wonder I'm in a pissy state.

Got out twice this weekend and managed to shoot mid 90s each time. Both front 9's were pretty bad, both back 9's were pretty good (41 and 44 repsectively). Some bad shots out there, but some good ones too. I figured out what I was doing wrong, so if I don't swing like an asshole I'm gonna be ok.

Pitched in for Birdie on a par 5 up and over a bunker from about 20-25 yards out yesterday, so that pretty much made my weekend

I hit the ball really good yesterday but I didn't score for shit. Not only did they aerate the greens they put down a layer of sand. It was like putting on a beach. A beach with a bunch of annoying holes in it. If I continue to drive the ball like that it's going to be a very good summer.

Where'd you guys play? And how were the courses? We should start commenting on the courses we play so we have a course review database going.

I live up in Wisconsin and played Fire Ridge. The course itself was fine but the greens were not very good at all.

I played George Dunne on Saturday. It was in decent shape, but I've seen it better. The greens were pretty good. Lots of deer.

I played this course called "University Club" in University Park yesterday. Fairways were long, rough was not so much thick, just long and not very well maintained, and there were tons of dirt spots and marks on the greens all over. Oh, and some length; a 623 yard par 3, and three par 4's that were over 450 yards. I can hit a drive pretty good when I get into one, but there were a couple of par 4's were I hit a really good drive, and I was still having to use a hybrid to get anywhere near the green. The only plus was that a buddy found it for $21 for 18 w/cart on golfnow. I wouldn't play it again unless I got that rate. The hotdog at the turn was damn good though.

Heritage Bluffs in Channahon. It's a fantastic course and we play it often. This is the first time we could remember them putting sand on the greens. I'm sure the greens will be beautiful in a month but it sucked yesterday.

Fucking 102 at Arboretum today. Hit 9 fairways and the ones i missed wasn't by much. Just a ridiculous combination of bad luck and bad short game and attrocious sand game. Example, par 5 had a perfect driver followed by a perfect 3 wood which left me 70 yards from the green in a stiff wind. Pulled out my gap wedge, but because I have new clubs I don't really know the distances...hit a perfect shot, but it was a few yards too long and bounced over the green and into a trap. 2 shots to get out of the trap and the last one sailed the green and into another trap. I probably wasted 6 shots in the traps and another 8 shots around the green with my 60 degree wedge.

Also had a few bad swings that resulted in duffed fat shots or open faced shanks into the water.

To go from an 86 to a 102 in 3 days is pretty fucking depressing.

I'll be at the range/practice green for the next 2 weeks, may not play again until I have at least 10 hours of practice under my belt.

Have a scramble tournament at Shepherds Crook on Saturday and still need to make it to the park to work on
my chipping and wedges. There is really no good places around here to practice and although I live using Pine
Meadows practice facility it is a bit of a haul unless I am going to spend half a day there.

I played at Pheasant Run in St. Charles on Sunday. Shot 47-50. Not bad for my first time on that course, my first round since September, and a new putter.

The driver was inconsistent. Either I smoked it 280 yards down the fairway, or I got lazy turning my body, and hit with all arms, with the result being a bomb left. I didn't slice one tee shot, which is encouraging.

The irons were pretty good, other than distance control, which I figure has to do with being rusty. At least they went straight, for the most part. On hole 13, my tee shot went left, so I was left with 155 yards in the rough. I hit an 8-iron, which went twenty yards long. I'm still scratching my head on that one.

The putter was my best club. 14 putts on the front 9, and 32 for 18. Only one three putt, which is huge for me. I drained several putts in the six to ten foot range, which is crucial to keeping the score down.

I counted every penalty shot, 6 total, and didn't take a mulligan. That is the only way to roll, IMO. I didn't land in a single bunker the entire day, which is rare. Without the penalties, and a few times hitting the wrong club, I could have broken 90, which is my goal for this year.

My playing partners hit driver on every non par 3. I don't understand that thinking. If a hole is 295 yards into the wind with a bunker protecting the green in front, why hit a driver? I would rather poke an iron into the fairway, and hit a full shot with my 50 or 55, than hit a thirty or forty yard shot over a bunker.

All in all, I was pretty pleased with my play.

The course was in really good shape for April, considering the cool weather and rain that we have had recently. We didn't see a beer cart one time. How can they not be selling beer on a 70 degree day on a weekend? There was a concession stand where holes 6, 12, and 15 converge. It was 3:30 when we pulled up to it, and the girl said she was leaving, and the stand was closed. That didn't make any sense to me, but I brought some beers in a cooler, so I was covered.

Sounds good, and in the bolded part you probably caught a flyer coming out of the rough. When you have grass between your club face and ball the grooves can't get to the ball and the ball will come out without any spin. It will just sail thru the air.

course as a runup to The Players. I haven't watched much PGA Tour golf this year but I hope this is the beginning
of tuning in a bit more if I am not playing.
