The White Sox currently sit at 7-12, while the Cubs are at 5-13. Both are off to very disappointing starts. Do you think either of the teams gets their record over .500 again this season?

I'd say because of the pitching the Sox have a small chance, but they're really playing poorly now and have only 11 home games in May so I fear they may be buried soon. My heart says the Sox will end up at 85 or 86 wins, but my brain says about 77. The Cubs may lose 100 again this season. I vote neither.

What do you think?

I still think the White Sox have a better shot. Dunn, hopefully, will eventually get better and maybe Sale will be more dominant.

Edited for me being a dumbass. Cubs and Sox both suck....and will continue to do so for the rest of the year.

Obviously the Sox are the only ones with a chance but if they end up being 7 or 8 under come May 1st then they are probably screwed as well.

But that is just like saying the person with no legs has a better chance of winning the race than the person with no legs and a massive head injury. They are both going to lose badly.

 Too soon??

Oh lord I didn't even think of it. I apologize everyone. I wasn't thinking about the Boston crap this morning. This is what happens when I post before the coffee kicks in.

Or maybe Sale and Peavy will end up going on the DL and things will get worse. No-neither team will be over .500

I believe the Sock will go over .500 at one point, but still probably finish around 78-82 wins. Believe it or not, I think the wild card here is Dank. there really are few options to bring in as SP, I mean for chrissakes they are already relying on Axelrod. If Dank at no point resembles anything close to his former self, look out below, and I expect Hahn to go into full on selling-off-assets mode. Santiago needs to get stretched out in any case.

That probably would be the best thing for this team.

Outside of a couple of games, the starting pitching has not really been an issue. They have lost games recently because of a bad bullpen, bad defense, and no scoring runs.

The Sox tend to do good things in June-August so I think its possible.

That is true, but the rotation is the strength of this team. A career-norm Dank at #3 solves a lot of ills. The staff would go from passable to above average. These guys will eventually hit.

Once Hockey is over it is going to be a long wait for the NFL season to start. Can we somehow fast forward to September? I am looking forward to Bears camp this year more than ever before. Cant wait.

They usually have a run in them in May or June. Their starting pitching is good enough for such a thing to happen.

Are you talking about the Cubs or Sox?

Well I was Sox, but from what I have heard on sportsradio and read on the board it could apply to the Cubs too yes?

Cubs would get to .500 if they didn't sell off all those valuable pieces the rest of the league wants that have helped them to play under .500

I think the White Sox will get over .500, but barely. They'll also be out of the MLB Playoff money when they do.
