I'm interested to know how many guys on here prefer a basic car with cd player, ipod port compared to all the things they are adding now with Sync,Bluetooth, rear camera, complicated touch screens, etc. Do you feel it might be more of a distraction and a nuisance if something breaks?

I'm afraid I'll spill water or food in the car, and those gizmos become a small killing machine. Especially when I drive after midnight. Not interested.

I got me a rear camera on my Tacoma and it's quite nice.

Once you drive a car that has one, you don't want to be without it again.

Totes. I love it. It didn't stop me from hitting Boyd's mailbox, but its helpful anyway.

I think of these things as more items that may require repair at some point and cost more than they would be worth to me. I can use my mirrors and turn my head rather than having a camera that may break down. Don't need it. Looking at touch screens while driving is distracted driving and a bad idea.

Rear camera is required by federal regulation. Or a regulation was passed - not sure of the effective date though so the companies might just be getting ready for it.

My GF's car has the rear backup camera, and I never use it. Guess I'm used to my clunker that has no camera. I feel my comfortable using my eyes, ears, and nose.

Jimmy, you & I are about the same age...but you sound like my 87 year old Uncle who was against power windows because "its just something else that can break".

I love the tech gadgets, but I have yet to find an integrated blue tooth that sounds good.

I knew you were lying about your age.

 That should read "87 year old Uncle".

It's so much easier to run over those kids when you can see them. The days of those little buggers eluding me by hiding in my blind spot are over.

I have a very base model Jeep with a CD player. I upgraded and bought a cord to plug in my iPod to
the radio. I think that is as far as I will go with it. If I spent more time in the car maybe I would
investigate further. My buddy just got a new car and showed me he can send tunes to the car
through his phone wirelessly. I thought it was cool but nothing I would ever do. I might as well
be 87.

This sounds like my father in law. When he was buying a truck he wanted nothing "power" because it would break. Manual windows and locks.... Funny thing is, in the 6 or 7 years he has had the truck both windows and 1 of the locks have broke...

I go both ways. Some of the modern conveniences are nice. But I could happily drive a 72 Nova.

The way his pinkish skin glistend as he sweated in that Hanover Park commercial. The way he struggled to breath as he stammered through sentences. I could see that...

The Bluetooth and built in iPod functionality pretty much sealed the deal on my last car...

He said new tech.

I tend to buy cars once every five years...when I bought the Beetle, it's idea of MP3/iPod integration was a line in jack on the dash...so, new to me...

Aux for the win! That's the only thing that was a deal breaker when I was buying a car... navigation and Bluetooth added $3000 to the price, fuck that, my phone is good enough.

Give me a radio and an aux input and that is it. Some of the new stuff might seem great but its a huge pain in the dick when the electrical systems start to fuck up. I have the pleasure of searching for the corrosion or break in the wiring that goes to the wheel sensor in my wife's ride. Take your traction system and shove it straight up your ass buick.
