I'm amazed at just how many threads here end up turning into a discussion on smelly pussies.

I'm gonna have to disagree again there. I don't think a nonsmelly woman douches. I mean, soap and water work pretty good on pussy. Its not like woman need to douche for the sake of not stinking like badsnatch. I don't think that's a result of advertising. I'm pretty sure its basic hygene.

Yeah, soap works fine. Soap is all you need. The fucking Beatles wrote a song about it I think.

Isn't excessive douching actually bad for the body, kind of like how excessive shampooing (lather, rinse, repeat) is hard on your hair?

From now on I'll try to keep it contained to the Dunn-o-meter thread.

Yes.

It upsets the natural ph balance "down there" and can actually be harmful.

Do you mean the Adam Dunn who used to hit a lot of homers for a bunch of teams in the "National League" but now just takes up space and strikes out a lot now that he plays his home games at U.S. Cellular Field which has a lot of fans dressed up like empty seats today?

Uh, yeah...

I'm done with this conversation. I need to go buy a pair of compression pants for the next time I play basketball.

Me thinks JORR bought some tighty whitey's on sale at JCPenny after seeing some ad. Seems a little chafed right about now.

I am going to start a thread titled "How many of your daily activities are driven by DBOTW threads?"

I freely admit most of my daily activities are driving by advertising. That's because I have a job.

My coffee is 8 o'clock coffee. I don't know that i've ever seen an ad for it.
I drive to work in my company truck, or I'll head out in my Tacoma if personal business.
My lunch is genreally made of Aldi wheat bread and Aldi lunchmeat. Some Diet Coke. I buy diet coke because it's the best tasting diet except maybe Diet Mountain Dew but DW doesn't like diet Mt. Dew.
When I go home I turn on my UVerse. It's uverse because it's what's available in my neighborhood.
Dinner is usually Aldi chicken or beefs. Sometimes I go to the butchers in mchenry and buy steaks or ribs. It's a family owned shop.
Bed.

Pretty sure not much of my day is driven by advertising.

Well, you're un-American then, you gol-damned Commie!

(my day is 0% advertising 'cause I ain't got shit for money ... and because I don't shit money either)

I'm at my desk eating Sun Chips right now. Advertising didn't play a part in the decision to buy them from the vending machine. The fact that I've liked them since age 10 did.

There are advertised chips I don't like also.

I'm confused as to how anyone could say advertising doesn't drive at least one choice every day.

The food you buy is purchased for a reason. The place you buy that food is chosen for a reason. The fact you know that building sells food is understood for a reason. On and on...

You can't escape advertising, Mr. Draper.

That's kinda silly. If I like a certain food, I like it because my tastebuds tell me I do. Advertising doesn't tell my tastebuds what to respond to.

Food is purchased because it tastes good.

Place is because it is the cheapest.

That's not really because of advertising.

Because the building they are located in is a grocery store? There are grocers in every town and such, it isn't as if I wouldn't know where to go or what a grocery store was if I didn't see one of these strange places on TV.

How do I know where those grocery stores are? Well, I drive by them all the time, if I am in a strange, dark place I will look up the location of one that is on my phone.

So I ask you, are you asking about advertising telling us where things are or advertising telling us to go to a certain grocery store?

I don't think too many. I do purchase things (like rounds of golf) at times, based upon special deals. Things I otherwise might not have spent money on. But the decision to make the purchase is based on an exceptional deal/value. Most purchases I make are based on preferences for those products/services. I don't care how many CD's anyone sells or how many concerts they sell out, if I don't care for their music, I will never buy any of their songs much less a ticket to their concert. If I like someones music, I don't need hoards of others to feel similarly to make me feel good about it. Mostly, I think I advertizing makes me aware of the possibility to make purchases to things (sporting events/concerts/activities) that I already had an interest in. To me thats more a case of advertizing working for me, than me falling prey to it's influence.

Isn't it possible to have a favorite something without having seen an advertisment for it?
Right now I'm drinking a Revolution Anti-Hero.
I bought it because I dig it, tasted it at a bar at the first Bulls outing.
Never once seen an ad.
I buy it because I dig it.
