Of course they went for it

I disagree. With the possible exception of Rodman, I wouldn't call any of those players a star-caliber player that was being heavily recruited by other teams at the time. They just needed to add players around Jordan and Pippen. Today's Bulls team doesn't have the luxury.

So I guess you meant, you want the Bulls to get a superstar for once in your life. Ok.

But acquiring all those guys I listed was indeed "going for it"

W&S referenced a proposed trade in which the Bulls would give up Butler, Mirotic, Boozer & the Bobcats pick for Kevin Love? Would you do it?

YES

The guy is a Scorer

but I need Thibbs on board with his West coast Defense first!

I can agree with that. They tried and they failed. Not entirely their fault. However, I don't think anyone would disagree that the Bulls' Front Office has been known to be "tight" with their wallet.

I can agree in general, but didn't they pay a hefty price for those championship teams in the late '90s? They made MJ the highest player in all of team sports, they made PJ the highest paid coach, and I assume they paid key role players like Kerr and Harper enough money to entice them to stay. To your point, however, they did (in)famously deny Pippen a contract extension.

If the Minnesota Timberwolves' management team offered Kevin Love to Bulls' GM Gar Forman in a possible trade during the offseason in which Luol Deng & maybe another player or two due to NBA salary cap rules went to Minneapolis in return, I say do it.
