NSJ, They hit the Panera at 60 mph? Wow. And nobody died? That is extremely fortunate. I will check it out.

That is next door to your office? Now I have a good guess at what you do. Do you have a nice two-button dark pinstripe, 48L?

Yes, licensing of the elderly must be stricter, testing must be more comprehensive, and many, many other aspects need to be revised. Welcome to my world of taking on AARP. What might be even scarier for some of you is to know that Illinois may already have the toughest laws in the nation.

Only 20 states require a driving test for older drivers. The rules vary within these states, from accelerated renewals to refusing to accept mail renewals. Of the states that do require driving tests for the elderly, Illinois is probably the strictest and has perhaps the best preventive measures.

Not only does Illinois require anyone over the age of 75 to take a road test in addition to the standard vision test, but Illinois also has an accelerated system. Any driver between 81 and 86 years old is required to renew their license every two years, and anyone 87 and older is required to renew every year. Problems with vision and other motor-related skills usually increase with age, making the Illinois law both justifiable and necessary.

So if this person was 90, he was already subject to annual renewals. Obviously, (and this is the most serious issue with drivers of all ages) license tests do not truly test one's driving skills or test the possibility that they could lose all consciousness at some point and drive into a restaurant at 60 mph.

Wow, they do look old. And reading that she was the driver makes it even scarier.

Why is it scarier because she was the driver?

Because by looking at them, I think I'd rather see him behind the wheel than her based on their appearances (assuming I knew nothing of this accident or maybe it didn't even happen). She just looks scarier, that's all.

Hey NSJ, I just caught you on CLTV. You got a little Phillip Seymour Hoffman in you. I guess I know what the J in NSJ stands for now.

Yes, yes indeed, J has jaundice. It an affliction that can take a lifetime to overcome.

One of your 15 minutes of fame just went POOF. That said, for being as shaken up as you had to be, you seemed calm enough in the interview. Nicely done.

And I was trotted out in front of Mayor Jane Byrne along with about 100 others kids one fall day for the cameras. I was the 27th blur on the left.

Never got a chance to be Bozo'd.

It's a sad story. Reporters from WGN, Fox, WLS, Tribune and WBBM have followed up regarding what I saw and the photo for the 9 and 10 news. I've asked each one and everyone has told me that none of the injured is in a life threatening situation. I was shaken today but sooo00 happy that this didn't result in any deaths.

NSJ, that's just about how I would picture a guy who posted 553 times in one night.
You do have more hair than I thought you would. Is that a rug?

No 553 posts in one night, Reason. I used tech. No rug either. Real hair with no patches. I thought you knew me better.

WFLD and WGN were very good at 9 with accounts of what occured. At 10 I'm hoping for an update on the victim's status on channels 2 and 7.

It's Mr. and Mrs Havercamp from Caddyshack.

That's a peach, hon.

NSJ, you're not an overweight "Comic Book Guy" Looking Guy 8)

So far it looks like WGN is giving you the most air time. Stacey Baca on 7 look hot.

I wouldn't be surprised if that Panera bread has a spike in sales in the next few days.
