Was thinking about the shoutout for him, but the special of the day...The DAVID TERRELL

#83, maybe the worst pick ever!

It was a Lamb Sausage creation

Love the guy.....very personable....when I worked across the street, would go there quite often. Knows your name and your order if you go frequently enough.

We've been through this before. Overrated hipster crap

I'd love to do a blind taste test with every asshole who creams their jeans over duck fat fries. I bet those fucks couldn't tell the difference

I agree on the fries...not even a fan of them.

Havent been back in probably 2 years, but he remembered me, lots of SARKIS stories exchanged when he was on Roscoe.

Dont even think the sausages are that great, but the guy does run a good shop, gotta give him credit.

It's total hipster, combined the peeps working across the street and at Comed

Definitely agree on it being hipstery......I mean, why in the hell is it "cool" to stand in a line for 30-60 minutes just to get a hot dog and fries????? Back when I worked across the street, we always knew to either call it in, or just go early.

All you New Trier guys love Sarkis.

I saw him in a bakery not long ago. We said hello and some old lady came in and hugged him. Afterward he turned to me and said, "Everybaahdy know me."

One year on Christmas Eve I had some last minute shopping to do. I took my mom with me to Old Orchard. Afterward we stopped at Sarkis for lunch. My mom freaked out when he hugged her. As I was eating my Loretta the phone rang. The guy on the other end must have asked what time they closed because Sarkis said, "We open 'til 3." The phone rang again and Sarkis said, "We open 'til 5". My mom laughed and asked him why he told the first guy they closed at 3. Sarkis said, "I don't wan everybaahdy to come at once."

I was going to Sarkis way before New Trier. Sarkis was a good bike ride, then we could go play Galaga at Hot Dog Island! That was a quality day!

Would like to think I was part of the reason it became the hip place to go...and some other reasons which will not be listed here. He did get the first 2 pages in my yearbook, so it may have been the height of his popularity.

Phone rings...."I AM FUCKING BUSY!" is how I remember him answering the phone.

I rely on Poochie's in Skokie to satisfy my hot dog needs.

I'm not a Big Fan of exotic sausages, so there's no need for me to put up with the hassles that are typical of a Doug's dining experience.

Poochie's dogs are better.

I do agree with the hipster opinion on Bad Apple, however--absolutely love that place.

The burgers are top notch, but the deep fried cheese curds are positively addictive. Nice beer selection as well.

The one thing I don't care for at Poochie's is that they use peanut oil in the deep fryers.

That's premium stuff. More $$$ than soybean.

Maybe so, but it doesn't taste good. Give me the tallow they use at Top Notch any day. I don't like my fries to have the slight hint of peanut flavor. My eggrolls either.

I am not really a big fries guy, so I guess I never noticed. Typically I just order two char dogs with everything except celery salt. That's it.

I will eat the fries at Wiener and Still Champion, though. Good stuff there.

Has anyone tried that Chicken and Waffles on Dempster at the Chicago-Evanston border?

Is it open yet? I think it's the same as the one in Oak Park.
